Scarlet Nexus features two main characters: Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall. Players must pick between the two at the start of a new game, but it's more than simply choosing to play a male or female character. Kasane and Yuito have unique storylines, like two halves of the same coin. If players want to get the full picture, they'll need to complete both protagonists' storylines, but the task doesn't go without being rewarded.

Luckily, because Scarlet Nexus' story varies whether playing as Yuito or Kasane, starting a New Game Plus save file has some incentive. But some players have already completed both playthroughs. There are a few small things that Scarlet Nexus will reward those players with if they choose to play again.

Yuito and Kasane share the same power of psychokinesis, though their weaponry and fighting styles are different. As players who have played either story will know, sometimes Yuito and Kasane will team up together and fight enemies in Scarlet Nexus. This lends a unique ability through the SAS link. Instead of obtaining a new power like pyrokinesis through Hanabi or clairvoyance through Tsugumi, activating Kasane or Yuito's powers will enhance their psychokinesis.

If players finish both storylines, there won't be any additional story content or cutscenes, but they will be able to switch between the Scarlet Nexus protagonists at any time. This can be quite useful for completionists. After clearing the game with either character, players can go back in and tie up any loose ends in post-game by loading back into the hideout. One completionist task that requires beating Scarlet Nexus multiple times is acquiring Phantom Art weapons, the best weapons in the game.

Between Yuito, Kasane, and the OSF allies, there are 10 characters with upgradeable weapons, but getting them to their most powerful versions requires finding a post-game unlockable item called "Phantom Art." After beating the game and reloading the save file, players will be rewarded with one Phantom Art. Upgrading weapons in Scarlet Nexus will also need additional enemy drops, such as a Buddy Rummy Analysis for Yuito's sword, and each character's weapon uses different resources.

However, Scarlet Nexus will only reward one Phantom Art per finished game, meaning the game will need to be completed one time for every weapon upgrade. Enhancing weapons with the Phantom Art will bring it up to 70 damage, and if players want to upgrade their entire party, they'll need to complete the game a whopping 10 times, but it'll be made a bit easier by being able to switch between Kasane and Yuito.

Scarlet Nexus is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
