Responding to an inquisitive fan on Twitter, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer states that there 'probably' will be no more Scalebound news until sometime next year.

It's been over two years since Scalebound was first revealed at E3 2014 as an Xbox One exclusive game. Since then, a lot has changed; Platinum Games has added co-op, the game is getting a PC port, and players will even be allowed to control their dragons in battle. All of these developments have caused the game to be delayed multiple times, but have also given fans even more to look forward to. Unfortunately, any further revelations about Scalebound will have to wait until next year.

According to head of Xbox Phil Spencer, more Scalebound news "probably" won't be announced until next year. Right now the game is scheduled to launch on an unspecified date in 2017, so there's a good chance that news will involve its release date. Depending on how well development is going on the project, though, fans may not learn of a release date or other Scalebound news until E3 2017 at the earliest.

Microsoft typically shares the biggest news about its exclusive games at E3 and Gamescom, with Scalebound taking center stage for Microsoft at last year's Gamescom event. The company doesn't have any other events currently planned before the year is out, so it makes sense that fans will likely have to wait until next summer, if not later, to learn more about Platinum's ambitious action game.

Having said that, there is at least one more major gaming event this year that Microsoft could use to showcase Scalebound. The Game Awards, to be streamed live in virtual reality, usually plays host to world premiere trailers for the biggest upcoming games, making it a great time for Microsoft to announce more in regards to Scalebound. With the PlayStation Experience happening the same month, one would imagine that Microsoft would want to use The Game Awards 2016 to try to steal some of its competition's thunder, and an impressive new gameplay presentation for Scalebound could go a long way in accomplishing that.

Otherwise, it's hard to say when fans will learn more about Scalebound. As previously stated, the most likely scenario is that the game will be featured during Microsoft's E3 2017 presentation, assuming its not aiming for a release date earlier than next summer. The game was previously lined up for a release in 2016 before it was delayed to next year, so depending on what Platinum is adding to the game with the extra development time, a release before next summer isn't totally out of the question.

Platinum Games keeps changing things up with Scalebound, adding new platforms and features regularly, not to mention changing the sex of the main character. It seems as though the company keeps changing its mind about what it wants the game to be, but hopefully these delays and new ideas translate into a game that's worth the wait.

Scalebound will be available in 2017 for PC and Xbox One.
