San Diego Comic-con Video Game Guide

One of the world’s biggest nerd conventions is finally upon us: San Diego Comic-Con 2011. The stomping grounds for the best and brightest in film, television, toys, games, and of course: the comics. With such a pedestal open for companies to display their top wares, the big names in the gaming industry are prepping in full force to give fans what they want.

The console trifecta — Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo — will be on hand at SDCC, and they’re bringing playable demos, booths to get your swag and Q&A talk on, and everything in between. Each company has their own specific breakdown, and we here at Game Rant have gathered all the details to make sure that nothing gets left out.

Microsoft

Beyond a doubt Microsoft is at San Diego in force, offering more than 20 different playable demos during the event, with Gears of War 3 leading the pack. Focusing on its heavily anticipated Horde mode, Gears of War 3 will be seen at the primary Xbox 360 Booth from beginning till the end of the event.

Gears won’t be the only title on display. Microsoft is bringing their whole bag of tricks, showcasing games like Batman: Arkham City, Rise of Nightmares, The Gunstringer, and Age of Empires. On top of that, some major Kinect titles will be making an appearance as well: Kinect Sports: Season Season Two, Dance Central 2, and Kinect Star Wars are going to be ready and waiting for players to give them the demo treatment.

Microsoft isn’t bringing just game demos, that would be silly. Microsoft has several panels set up throughout the weekend,  like Writing In Video Games with award-winning novelist Greg Bear, Frank O’Conner, David Galder, and more. They’ll even have a panel on the Halo universe, and a sneak peek at what’s in store for the future. Below is a quick run-through of when and where the major events are taking place, while the full breakdown can be found at Major Nelson’s Blog, in case you are so inclined.
