The ever-popular fighting game franchise Samurai Shodown will soon be getting its own retro collection of seven classic titles from the series. While the NeoGeo collection will eventually be released on Steam, PS4, and Switch, the Epic Games Store gets first dibs, and the game will be free on that platform from June 11 through June 18.

Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection comes with the first five games in the series as well as Samurai Shodown V Special and Samurai Shodown V Perfect, an updated version of the previous game that has never before been released. Perfect will feature the same gameplay as Special, but will offer players new story elements and endings.

First released in 1993 and developed by SNK, the Samurai Shodown series had gone stagnant for over 10 years. In addition to Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection, the Epic Games Store will also be launching 2019’s Samurai Shodown on June 11, which already released last year on PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia, as well as on Nintendo Switch in February.

The latest entry in the series gives fans a brand new story set one year before the very first Samurai Shodown game. The title also boasts high-end graphics developed using Unreal Engine 4, which enabled the developers to achieve a greater level of visual detail.
