SNK fighting game Samurai Shodown will be adding a free DLC character from Tencent's Honor of Kings, it has been announced. Honor of Kings (also known as Arena of Valor, for its international release) is a hugely popular game developed by TiMi Studios, the same team behind Pokemon Unite.

On Twitter, SNK posted a teaser image for the Honor of Kings character that will be added to Samurai Shodown. The image says that "soon, a new warrior will take up the sword," and features a silhouette of the character. Fans think they've cracked the case though, with some suggesting that the maple leaves around the character point to it being GongSun Li, who is played as an ADC and jungle character in Honor of Kings.

While it's unclear when this Honor of Kings character will be available in the game, Samurai Shodown players seem to be very excited about the news. The tweet has 258 retweets and 539 likes, after being up less than 24 hours. The fighting game's social media accounts really needed a win after the Samurai Shodown Twitter had to delete inappropriate tweets and this DLC announcement may have handed them one.

Fans have also begun to launch a campaign for the next round of Samurai Shodown DLC. Some popular choices are Guilty Gear character Baiken and Last Blade protagonist Kaede. It's unclear if SNK will add those but for now, fans who love the company's fighting games in China and around the world, seem to be enjoying this Honor of Kings announcement.

Samurai Shodown is available for PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and Stadia.
