Samuel L. Jackson recently took to Instagram, teasing his fans with a series of photos to mark his return to Nick Fury. The first photo shows off the facial hair prosthetics that he will have to wear. This post showcases Jackson subtly hinting at fans that when he does return, time has passed and aging is inevitable - even in the MCU.

The second photo that he posted was a selfie, wearing a t-shirt that represents Fury’s essence symbolically. The print and style of the t-shirt resembles a print at an art showcase. Jackson had a little scene at the very end of Avengers: Infinity Wars that fans would have perhaps missed if they hadn’t stayed for all the credits. The post-credit scene shows Fury utilizing a pager in order to make a very important call to Captain Marvel.

This exact pager is featured on the t-shirt that he is repping and features Fury’s open palm fading away, much like he did after Thanos's infamous snap. Given the series of photos that Jackson has shared, he may be alluding to his role in the upcoming series, Secret Invasion. Secret Invasion is actually rooted and based on the comic books by writer Brian Bendis.

The synopsis for Secret Invasion states “Fury and Talos try to stop the Skrulls who have infiltrated the highest spheres of the Marvel Universe.” The Disney Plus series will center on the character of Nick Fury. Jackson will be basically in a lead role, where he is getting even more screen time and expansion when it comes to Fury’s storyline. Jackson never confirmed in his post as to whether or not these shots are for his role in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels. It has been noted that filming for The Marvels has just started in London.

Fans are attributing these photos as being more so about Secret Invasion given Jackson will be the central character and the driving component behind the series. One thing that Jackson isn’t leaving room for interpretation is that Nick Fury has returned and he couldn’t be more elated. The caption for his revealing Instagram post says “Guess what time it is! Back in the box, just in the Nick of time.”
