Saints Row puts players in the position to become their own boss of a new Criminal Empire, and perhaps the best part is it's a customizable empire. Saints Row’s weapons, vehicles, and obviously the character are all deeply customizable, and that extends to the Empire as well.

A new Saints Row trailer shows off a ton of this customization, and Game Rant was able to preview a presentation ahead of it. Everything seems to be dialed up to 11, and the Empire itself is no less impressive than its parts.

Saints Row HQ and Empire Customization

Saints Row HQ, a beatdown church of Santo Ileso turned into an elaborate base, houses the player’s new empire. It gives them access to the garage, where their vehicles and unlocked options are accessible. It gives them access to the armory, where weapons and those options are accessible, and there’s even a closet where players can access their clothing options and change their presets. Saints Row HQ is a functional hub—and a customizable one.

Players are able to decorate it appearance the way they wish. Of all the customization options, this seems the least detailed based on the presentation, but there could be more to it. Players can put up statues and similar objects with collectibles, but the Empire isn’t just a building—it’s the people. Saints Row players are able to customize their crew, choosing how they dress to represent the Saints and what vehicles they roll up in.

Saints Row: Criminal Ventures in Santo Ileso

Just as players adjust their Empire, its adjusts Saint Row’s world map of Santo Ileso. Players will be able to access the criminal empire table on the second floor of their HQ, where they are able to complete Criminal Ventures. There are 14 locations across the map where players can pursue these, and based on the player’s particular choices, the city will change.

How extensively remains to be seen. Understandably, it could be a new store there, and it could change those that surround the store. It’ll be interesting to see how deep that goes, if it changes it more than that. Based on all of Saints Row’s customization options, it wouldn’t be surprising to see complete areas transformed, but it’s a promising concept at the very least.

Saints Row releases on August 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
