Saints Row: The Third is back to bring gamers yet another Cherished Memory, or at least developer Volition’s idea of a Cherished Memory. If you’ll recall in last week’s memory gamers were shown the harsh violence that can be inflicted on an unsuspecting energy drink mascot.

This week’s is focused on something gamers have already had a brief taste of: Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax.

A sadistic combination of Marathon Man and paintball, this deadly “game” set within a maze is exactly the type of situation one would expect Professor Genki to place participants in.

As you can see, the concept in Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax isn’t unlike many of the arena deathmatches players have encountered before — try to make your way towards the exit while at the same time shooting tiger icons to earn money and avoiding panda icons, which subtract money. It’s as simple as that.

Of course along the way not only will players have to deal with their opponents’ bullets but also many of the traps scattered throughout the maze.

While not nearly as entertaining as the first Cherished Memory or some of the gameplay trailers, this detailed look at Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax still continues this iteration’s tradition of subverting our expectations. Sure, getting an in-depth look at gameplay is fun and all, but how does it compare to seeing some random thug get cracked in the nuts. Now that’s original.

We don’t know how long these Cherished Memories courtesy of Saints Row: The Third will continue, but we sure hope it’s a weekly event running up to the game’s release next month. If there’s one thing that is sure to slap a smile on gamers’ faces, it’s some of the weirder footage from this game.

What is your most cherished memory from a Saints Row game? What new memories do you hope to make in this sequel?

Saints Row: The Third releases November 15, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
