'Saints Row: The Third' Season Pass Details Unveiled; New Cherished Memory

Saints Row The Third Season Pass

We’re back with yet another Saints Row: The Third Cherished Memory, this one featuring the always crazy Professor Genki, and, for a little change of pace, a piece of Saints Row news that might disappoint some gamers. To keep things light though, let’s focus on the Cherished Memory trailer first, which sees Genki leaping over a wave of zombies on a motorcycle.

Of course this isn’t the actual Professor Genki, of Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax fame, this is simply the player’s character wearing the Genki stunt suit, a DLC bonus included with pre-orders of the game.

And the zombies — well, we really don’t know how they factor into the Saints Row: The Third experience, but there’s an expectation for them to appear in the game’s horde mode.

And on the disappointing news front comes word that Saints Row: The Third will be sporting a popular new add-on in gaming: the Season Pass. For $19.99, players will gain access to a DLC pack that will be releasing alongside the game, as well as three forthcoming packs to be released at a later date.

What’s unique about this Season Pass announcement is the fact that THQ has detailed exactly what gamers will be getting in each pack, sort of. Gears of War 3’s Season Pass announcement for example simply said it would entitle gamers to a certain number of DLC packs, at a fixed price, but never mentioned what type of content those purchasers would access.

And then, as DLC announcements continued to roll in, it turned out that some of that “paid” DLC was eventually going to be turned into free DLC. Hopefully that won’t happen with Saints Row.

Back to the topic at hand, the first DLC pack that gamers will gain access to is called the Nyte Blayde Pack and will come packaged with a blood-red sports car, an altar boy outfit, a bloody canoness outfit, and a bloody canoness motorcycle (all seen in the header image above).  The other three campaign-oriented packs are:

Genkibowl VII (Scheduled to be available January 2012)

  • The Wide World of Genki takes over Steelport for a sporting tradition totally and utterly unlike any other.

Gangstas in Space (Scheduled to be available Winter 2012)

  • The Saints go intergalactic in this science-fiction misadventure

The Trouble with Clones (Scheduled to be available Spring 2012)

  • Copy-cat killing at its finest

It’s clearly a more robust and focused package, but still a far cry from the 40-week DLC plan that THQ announced earlier this year. More likely little touches like the Nyte Blade Pack will be popping up regularly for gamers to spend a few bucks on, but it’s the single player elements that we’re really interested in.

Based on these first details, are you interested in purchasing the Saints Row: The Third Season Pass? Would you want more single player elements or add-ons (clothing, vehicles, etc…) to be part of the 40-week plan?

Saints Row: The Third releases November 15, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
