The silly tools and toys of the Third Street Saints are seemingly endless in their chaotic quest to rule as much as they can. Be it digital tanks, machine-gun-mounted motorbikes, or jets with lasers attached, Saints Row knows exactly how fun creating chaos can be with the right tool for the job. Tools that get even crazier with mods.

Unfortunately, the residents of Steelport aren't as keen on a gang running rampage in their city, so they will do everything in their power to stop the Saints in their tracks. Thankfully, weapons are in ample supply, and most of them are as powerful as they are whacky. Tanks wish they had this much firepower.

10 Bling Shotgun - Earn Respect With Murder

Saints Row 3 Bling Shotgun

Getting up close & personal with enemies is rarely a good idea in a firefight, but the protagonist of Saints Row is surprisingly resilient. This makes Shotguns an ideal tool for clearing enemies out of the way, as very little is going to resist taking a blast to the face like that.

The Bling Shotgun is the best of its kind. It goes off with a bang, does the most damage, and has the best rate of fire of all of them. It has an extra bonus too. This bonus makes it so that any rival gang member killed with the Shotgun earns bonus respect. This is perfect for anyone looking to level up quickly.

9 Satchel Charges - Rigged To Blow

Saints Row 3 Satchel Charges strapped to pedestrians

There are some enemies where a gun just won't do. Sure, bullets will sort out most people that come your way, but sometimes the cops are just too rude to get out of their vehicle and do the job themselves. Thankfully, that's where explosions come in.

Attach a few Satchel Charges to any vehicle, and it will soon be a burnt-out husk. As they can be triggered whenever, they're also quite useful for laying traps in the event of an ambush, as well as clearing out a large group of enemies with a single button press.

8 Electric Grenades - Stunning

Saints Row 3 Electric Grenades

Every good gangster is going to find themselves in a tight spot every now and then, where it seems like there's no escape. In situations like that, the only way out is to stun everything in sight while somehow not stunning themselves.

The Electric Grenade does all that and more. It has a big stun area, and when fully upgraded, it will stick to anything it hits when thrown. Additionally, it will completely disable NPC vehicles while leaving both the player and their vehicle unharmed. Not sure how it does that. It seems the Saints have more advanced technology than people realize.

7 Woodsman - Slicing & Dicing

Saints Row 3 Woodsman

When going on a murder spree, sometimes there is no more satisfying feeling than slicing a man in half. There may not be too many situations where something like this can be pulled off without a hail of bullets ruining plans, but the Woodsman is a weapon all about making killing fun.

It's not glamorous, but it'll kill just about anything in one hit, which makes it a great tool for farming respect as well as a sure-fire way to get out of a tight spot. It might not be the most practical in a firefight, but when players take to the street to blow off steam with a killing spree, this is the weapon to use.

6 RC Possessor - What's Yours Is Mine

Saints Row 3 RC Possessor

The RC Possessor is another toy that may not be the best for an intense shootout, but there's plenty of fun to be had with it. To put it simply, point & shoot at a vehicle, and the player gets control of that vehicle. They can then drive it around just as if they were controlling it, within a limited range.

The player is completely exposed while controlling a vehicle, which is a problem. However, when fully upgraded, the gun can control military vehicles, including tanks and jets, which may make fights quite one-sided. There's even an upgrade that allows players to detonate a vehicle they're possessing, so there's plenty of opportunities for mayhem.

5 McManus 2015 - Boom! Headshot!

Saints Row 3 McManus 2015

Getting in a chaotic shootout is all well and good, but sometimes murder requires a more delicate touch. That's where everyone's friend, the Sniper Rifle, comes into play. There are a couple of Rifles with sniping ability in the game, but the McManus is the only one worth anyone's time.

The game doesn't have realistic ballistics, so killing things with this weapon is just a matter of pointing & shooting, which makes it much more fun. It does enough damage to one-shot most enemies and can be upgraded to have the power to take down vehicles too. It might not be the best tool when the jets finally locate the rooftop the player is hiding on, but it'll work perfectly until then.

4 45 Shepherd - The Best Gun Is The First Gun

Saints Row 3 45 Shepherd

Generally, the Pistol players start with in shooter games aren't that great, and it's intended for them to switch to a more powerful weapon pretty quickly. Not Saints Row, though. This Pistol from the classic games might not seem that amazing at first, but once it's upgraded, there is nothing better.

For starters, an upgrade means they can be dual-wielded, which makes them both cooler and more effective. Then, they eventually get explosive ammo. This means that not only do they do loads of damage, but they're even powerful enough to take down the toughest of vehicles. When combined with the infinite ammo upgrade late-game players can unlock, these are the absolute best out of the standard guns.

3 Mollusk Launcher - Mind Controlling Satchel Charges

Saints Row 3 Mollusk Launcher

For players who looked at the Satchel Charges and thought, "These are nice, but what if they could control minds?" This is the weapon to suit that need. It shoots little Octopi at the target; it will then stick to them and begin to manipulate their mind...only in Saints Row.

When they're first hit with it, enemies will do a nice little dance, and then they will begin to fight on the player's side. They won't last forever, though, so when players no longer have any need for their new thralls, the Octopi can be detonated in a decent-sized explosion.

2 SA-3 Airstrike - Does What It Says On The Tin

Saints Row 3 SA-3 Air Strike use on a police car

Dealing with crowds of enemies can be done in various ways in Saints Row. As discussed, they can be stunned, chainsawed, mind-controlled. Those are all great options, but sometimes the simplest option is the best, which obviously means wiping them off the face of the Earth with an airstrike.

Point. Shoot. Wait. Explode. That's all there is to this weapon. Standing clear of the blast zone is generally a good idea, but there's nothing else to say. All that's left to do is rain death on enemies from the sky.

1 Apoca-Fist - Pop Goes The People

Saints Row 3 Apoca-Fist Smashing a Police Car

The best weapon in the game that it's possible to miss on playthroughs. This weapon is a giant fist, it doesn't look like much, but players will change their tune as soon as they see it in action. Push someone with it, and not only do they die, but they burst into nothing but a pool of blood.

This weapon is locked behind a choice in the Murderbrawl XXXI mission, where the player fights Killbane in the ring. Once he is subdued, the player can either humiliate Killbane by unmasking him (unlocking his mask as a wearable item) or leave the mask on in exchange for the Apoca-Fist. Given how late-game this is, it's likely players will be pretty resilient to most forms of damage by this point, so running in with nothing but a giant fist and making enemies burst into blood is a very viable strategy.
