'Saints Row: The Third' Launch Trailer Sets Up the Story

Saints Row The Third Launch Trailer

The moment gamers have been patiently waiting for is finally here: the release of Saints Row: the Third. To celebrate the whacky game’s release, THQ has released a new trailer for the game that briefly hints at the storyline as well as providing choice words of praise that have been thrown the game’s way.

Obviously, if you don’t want the mystique of Saints Row: The Third, and by mystique I mean all of the crazy gameplay scenarios and characters you will encounter, to be spoiled it’s best to avoid the trailer. But if there are some fence-leaners out there this should push them over the edge.

Part of what makes Saints Row: The Third so enticing is its ability to constantly surprise, and this trailer is no different. From speeding around the streets of Steelport with a tiger riding shotgun to attacking a militarized government, this game will have players constantly guessing what’s next.

See for yourself in the trailer below:

As you can see, there’s plenty of varied experiences to partake of in the world of Saints Row: The Third. While there are still those scenarios and gameplay sequences that completely subvert this genre into something completely different contained within the game, I’d imagine Volition wants to save those encounters for player’s first run through. Nonetheless, there is plenty here to be excited about.

If you’ve read our review, you’ll know that Saints Row: The Third isn’t perfect, but what it does succeed at far outweighs its failures. By creating an open world sandbox game for the ages, and combining it with a deep co-op experience, players will be hard pressed to find a game that is capable of sucking up more of their time (save for maybe Skyrim).

Have you had a chance to roam the streets of Steelport in Saints Row: The Third yet? How does this Fall release rank on your lists of games to buy?

Saints Row: The Third is out now for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
