Professor Genki is back to give gamers another taste of the Saints Row: The Third universe, this time showcasing his ultra-wacky reality competition. The ‘Super Ethical Reality Climax’ is a winner-take-all arena — much like you would find in tons of video games — but with some extreme twists thrown in.

Part of what makes Saints Row: The Third so exciting is its crazy scenarios, but that isn’t where the buck stops. Professor Genki is just the first in a long line of interesting characters the Saints will run into on their quest to retain dominance in Steelport.

But, before showing this trailer, it’s best to provide a preface that recommends you seek out some of Saints Row’s more traditional gameplay trailers to see that this game isn’t just chalked full of weird cat people and man-cannons. There’s definitely more than enough weird to fill a town like Steelport, but there’s also some real ingenuity on display here.

With that being said, are you ready for this trailer? Because things are about to get weird:

Taking into account the previous Professor Genki marketing materials, it’s plain to see that Saints Row: The Third’s beloved feline is ready to dish out some serious carnage. That carnage will not only come in the form of the ‘Ethical Reality Climax’ — the death arena that features flame throwers and cardboard hot dog cut outs — but also in the Genki pre-order bonuses.

Super Ethical Reality Climax, we assume, ships with the game, but the three bonuses — the Genki suit, the octopus gun, and the human-launching vehicle — are specific to pre-order holders, so if turning your enemies into friends by way of a head-sucking octopus sounds like a grand old time, head to your local GameStop and make a purchase.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if you haven’t marked Saints Row: The Third as one of your titles to watch this fall you will surely miss out. Yes, the game doesn’t take itself too seriously but, in doing so, Volition has been able to create a no-holds-barred experience unlike anything we’ve seen in an open-world crime title.

Which side of the Saints Row: The Third universe appeals more to you: the crazy Professor Genki side or the insane gameplay variation?

Saints Row: The Third releases November 15, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
