Saints Row 3 Enter the Dominatrix Expansion

Despite doing everything in its power and more to extricate itself from the stereotypes of chart-topping video games, Saints Row: The Third can't escape one truth that aligns it with gold-plated names like Grand Theft Auto and The Elder Scrolls: As a sprawling, immensely detailed open-world adventure title in the modern age of DLC, it's ripe for a huge expansion pack that adds hours of new content.

Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix looks to do just that. THQ and Volition's crime syndicate experience has a long list of DLC offerings on its roster already, but none so big as the newly announced, standalone expansion releasing this Fall for an expected $29.99. It's everything you'd expect from a Saint's Row: The Third creation -- alien warlords; Earth invasions; alternate reality; and, most importantly, super powers.

It was only a few months ago that the Third Street Saints were jettisoned into the outer atmosphere for the Gangstas in Space DLC, but this time the action is coming to Earth. Picking up immediately where the main Saints Row 3 storyline left off, Enter the Dominatrix introduces us to the alien warlord Zinyak, who's been observing Earth for centuries and now plans to plunder it for resources. The only banes of his concern are the Third Street Saints. Zinyak has witnessed their rise from sophomoric Stilwater street bangers, to global icons with a commercial empire (as documented through the events of the series' three games); he sees them as his biggest threat for worldwide domination.

And so, as preparation for the attack, Zinyak kidnaps the Saints' boss (who we play as), enslaving him inside "Dominatrix" -- a virtual reality simulator that looks and feels just like the earthly city of Steelport, but contains some very unearthly possibilities. Here's how it was explained by Danny Bilson, THQ Executive Vice President of Core Game Production:

"Faster than a speeding cyber jetbike, more powerful than a roided-out Luchadore, able to leap flying aircraft carriers in a single bound… That’s the power you’ll find inside the Dominatrix. Use it for good. Use it for evil. Use it for whatever you want. As always in Saints Row, it’s up to you."

Bilson also went on to boast  that Saints Row: The Third has shipped over 11 million since its release last November -- a number likely attributed to above average review scores like ours and some of the most heinously outrageous action on the market. Enter the Dominatrix -- though plenty of details are still waiting to be seen -- feels like it won't be any different. And that's a good thing.

Ranters, does extraterrestrial enslavement sound like your idea of fun in Saints Row: The Third?

Saints Row: The Third  is available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Enter the Dominatrix releases this fall on all three.
