There are going to be a ton of tough decisions to be made in Saints Row: The Third, but none will impact the player’s experience more than their character design. Though the game doesn’t release for another couple of weeks, Volition has begun sending out beta invites to their ‘Initiation Station,’ a character creation center that is outfitted with hundreds and hundreds of possibilities.

For those that are wondering, the Saints Row: The Third Initiation Station does open up to the public on the first of next month, but THQ has been kind of enough to send over some screens and a trailer that give a small taste of that character creation.

In a world that is populated with colorful personalities like Professor Genki and Johnny Gat, it might be difficult to decide between being a completely off-the-wall blue-skinned character, or a more traditional one. Or maybe gamers aren’t very good at creating characters, but want that zany combination. Well they are in luck because the Initiation Center allows any created character to be uploaded to the Saints Row: The Third site, and from there players who might not have even created the character will be able to use them during the insane campaign.

It doesn’t stop with the character creation though. By joining the Saints Row: The Third community (a requirement for the character creation center), gamers are able to earn in-game rewards, complete in contests, and track stats. I would say that this points towards some future DLC, or even a season pass, but for now your Saints Row: The Third exploits will be there for gamers to recount.

For those that did sign up for the beta, best check your email inbox because invites went out today. And for the rest of us, the Initiation Center becomes available on November 1st.

What style of character do you want to create for Saints Row: The Third? A more traditional one or a completely off-the-wall-character? Have you had a chance to play around with the Initiation Station and care to share your thoughts?

Saints Row: The Third releases November 15, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
