Saints Row will be released at midnight on August 23. This time will be dependent on players' regions rather than being fixed to a specific timezone, meaning that countries like Australia and Japan will be able to start playing the game first. It's important to note that the timezone is locked to the region of a player's PS Plus, Xbox Live, or Epic Games Store account rather than their physical location, so those hoping to play Saints Row a little earlier can do so if they have access to a VPN and a store account from a different region.
PlayStation and Xbox owners will be able to preload the game, with the function becoming available 48 hours ahead of launch at midnight on August 21. Unfortunately, PC gamers will not be unable to download Saints Row in advance due to issues with the Epic Games Store. Given that the PlayStation versions of the game are between 50 and 60 Gigabytes in size, PC players should allow themselves plenty of time for the game to download, though exactly how much will obviously depend on their internet speeds.
Although the game still isn't available in every region, reviews for Saints Row have already started popping up online and things aren't looking too great so far. The Series X version is the most reviewed at the time of writing and currently holds a 66 rating on Metacritic after 32 critic reviews. This is around the same as the series' worst-reviewed entry, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, with many reviewers describing the reboot as feeling "rushed." Of course, it's still very early days, so this score may well improve over time. That said, it could just as easily get worse.
For those still eager to purchase the game, there are several different versions of Saints Row available, with the basic one coming in at $59.99 on all platforms. Then there are the Legacy, Notorious, and Gold editions, all of which will set players back $89.99 and include the season pass as well as various other items. For an extra $10, players can pick up the digital-only Platinum edition, which includes the season pass and the remastered version of Saints Row the Third.
Unsurprisingly, perhaps, there's no repeat of the infamous Wad Wad edition that was available with the release of Saints Row 4, with the game's publisher instead opting to keep things simple this time around. For anyone who isn't aware, the Wad Wad edition had a million-dollar price tag and came bundled with a real-life Lamborghini Gallardo as well as several other luxurious high-end rewards and a Toyota Prius.
