It's been seven years since fans of Saints Row have had a playable new entry in their hands. At last year's Gamescom, developer Volition officially revealed the next title to be a complete reboot of the franchise. Ahead of its August release, Volition has announced that Saints Row has officially gone gold.Volition took to the game's official Twitter account to share the news. In a short media post, the studio tweets that the game has "gone gold" and is "locked and loaded" for the August 23 release date. The team also goes on to interact with fans and share the excitement while also providing a link to preorder and learn more about what the reboot is set to bring.RELATED: Saints Row's Flow, Perks, and Ability Features Detailed in New Report"Going gold" is a term many gamers should be familair with as it signifies that the final build of the game is complete. From this point, the development team will be sending out this version to be printed onto phsyical copies of the game as well as providing it to digital retailers for fans who opt for digital purhcases. With the Saints Row reboot receiving quite a few delays, this announcement secures that game is ready for its release next month.

With only a little over a month left, the coutndown officially begins before players can experience the world of Saint Ilesso. For players interested in getting a head start, Volition released the Boss Factory demo last month for PC (through the Epic Games Store), Xbox, and PlayStation. The Boss Factory lets players create their own custom character, which the series has been highly lauded for, and save their progress to then port over to the full release. Fans have already created some amazing work with some recreating Joel from The Last of Us or Cal Kestis from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. These customizable options can then be shared with the community.

Despite the fan hype and awesome customization, Saints Row faces an uphill battle. When the game was officially revealed, many were disappoined it would be a reboot intead of a continuation of what was already established in the Saints Row universe.

However, Volition seems locked in and determined to make the best out of this new title. With plenty of content scheduled for the future of the title, as well as the gameplay looking to provide the same over-the-top action Saints Row has been known for, this reboot may be everything the series needs to find new life.

Saints Row is scheduled to release on August 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
