Last year, publisher Deep Silver revealed that a new Saints Row game would be announced in 2020. It seems to be shaping up to a big year for the franchise, with the upcoming Saints Row 3 remaster, the Saints Row 4 Switch port, and a presumable movie in the works. Many may be wondering, however, about the fate of Saints Row 5.

After all, not only has one game been announced but two, and some think that at least one of these two games may be what Deep Silver was referring too. This didn't seem to be likely, given that Saints Row 3 remaster is being handled by Sperasoft, not Volition itself. Now, the developer has confirmed a game is still in development at its studio, meaning that is likely to be Saints Row 5.

This likely means an announcement for Saints Row 5 is still coming in 2020, per Deep Silver's words, but when that is remains to be seen. One possible location would have been the now-canceled E3 2020, but with the on-going coronavirus having a huge impact on the gaming industry, fans will just have to wait and see.

It's also worth considering where the franchise could go after the end of Saints Row 4, as the Boss takes over the Zin Empire. It could be another space-faring adventure or it could build off an ending from Gat Out of Hell, but either way, fans can expect a wild ride.

Saints Row 5 is in development.
