Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continue to "Believe," as the two confirmed Welcome to Wrexham will be back for a second season, now chronicling their team’s title race and one of those elusive promotion tickets out of English football’s fifth division.

Despite never being too familiar with the sport besides some casual FIFA, Reynolds and McElhenney have truly immersed themselves in the role of football club owners, with Welcome to Wrexham doing great with American audiences, despite the sport's relative lack of popularity in the United States. Hence, it’s no surprise to see the docuseries getting greenlit for a second season, especially now that Wrexham AFC seems to be hitting the type of form the two owners might have expected after their sizable investments.

In usual Reynolds fashion, the actor dropped the news on his Twitter account, along with a wave of announcements that include Welcome to Wrexham being nominated for two Critics' Choice Awards. Additional news includes the entire first season becoming available on Hulu and the fact that ESPN 2 will broadcast the Red Dragons' FA Cup qualifying match against the Blyth Spartans at 3:00 PM ET (12:00 PM PST). The pair also invited new Wrexham fans to slack off a bit using the #QuietQuitting, in yet another show of Reynolds' unique marketing style.

Reynolds and McElhenney completed their Wrexham purchase in November 2020. They then oversaw the latter part of a moderately good season for the club’s old standards in 2020/2021. Welcome to Wrexham covers both that period and the following 2021/2022 campaign, which ended in disappointment as the Hollywood duo got their first taste of football heartbreak after being defeated in the promotion play-offs.

Ever since Reynolds and McElhenney took over Wrexham, the club has received more media coverage than at any other point in its history, with the duo bringing in well-known sponsors such as TikTok, the British club being added to FIFA 23, the signing of players well above their previous budget, and plans for future stadium renovations. The tiny Welsh city has welcomed the actors with open arms, and though escaping the lowly National League is no easy feat, the team currently sits second in the competition, just 1 point shy of current leaders Notts County.

Welcome to Wrexham became just one of many recent football documentaries, although the added star power of Reynolds and McElhenney has turned into a fantastic watch for casual fans currently waiting for Ted Lasso season 3. Hopefully Welcome to Wrexham's second season will end on a high note, with plenty more looking increasingly likely in the future.

Welcome to Wrexham season 1 is available on Hulu.
