One of the most unlikely Marvel friendships to date, Spider-Man and Deadpool are the dynamic duo fans didn’t know they needed. The pair starred in a series of comics together from 2016 to 2019, where they finally got the chance to get to know each other, beyond the masks.

The Spider-Man and Deadpool relationship works so well because of their ability to get along, despite their moral differences. Marvel fans adore them, because they’re a true representation of the phrase ‘opposites attract.’ Deadpool is obviously rough around the edges, and he isn’t afraid to delve into the darker side of life to achieve his desired outcome. On the other hand, Spider-Man is basically as clean-cut as heroes come, which is why he’s able to spot the good in Wade Wilson.

So, even though their bromance is rather unusual, the bond between them is actually pretty strong. Ryan Reynolds and Marvel Studios have confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be set in the official MCU, so viewers are hyped about getting to see their favorite mercenary make some waves in the Marvel universe. Given the popularity of the Spider-Man and Deadpool pairing, it would be a shame to omit Wade’s bond with Peter, now that they’re being given the chance to exist within the same world.

Thanks to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home there are now three different Spider-Men in the MCU that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has the chance of meeting. This makes the possibility of bringing their comic book adventures to life even greater. With that being said, however, Reynolds’ Deadpool would likely click the best with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker for a number of reasons.

Firstly, upon first meeting the other Spider-Men, Garfield’s Peter admitted to going a little dark side after losing the love of his life. Gwen Stacy’s passing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 means that Garfield’s Peter and Deadpool already have something in common. Despite falling victim to the classic trope of 'fridging' in Deadpool 2, it’s hard to deny that Wade’s relationship with Vanessa was the perfect blend of romance and tragedy. Having both lost their romantic partners and struggling to death with life in the aftermath, Deadpool and Garfield’s Peter could certainly use each other to help deal with their grief.

Second, Garfield’s Peter seems most equipped to handle Deadpool’s fits of homicidal rage. Tom Holland’s character briefly gave into his feelings of unbridled rage when delivering a well-deserved beating to Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but overall, he and Maguire play the character in a way that feels too juvenile or clean-cut to mesh well with Deadpool.

Additionally, throughout the Amazing Spider-Man movies, Garfield did a great job capturing Peter’s more smart-mouthed, quippy side, something that would certainly pair well with Deadpool’s love of sarcasm and inappropriate humor. However, a lot of fans have expressed the opinion that while Garfield nailed the part of a web-slinging hero, his Peter Parker needed to be more flushed out.

Garfield has had the least amount of screen time when stacked up against the other Spider-Men, so it seems only fair that he gets another crack at putting on the Spidey suit and fighting crime. Both Holland and Maguire have had the chance to star in three movies, whereas Garfield only starred in two, so perhaps the issues fans are having with his character is the fact that his story is relatively unfinished.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man

Garfield did receive some more closure and development during No Way Home, but there’s definitely still more room for growth. A scene in the movie also reveals that Garfield’s Spider-Man feels out of place amongst the other two Spideys, because they’ve both been given the opportunity to fight aliens, travel outside the galaxy, and deal with more crazy, high-level threats. What better way for Garfield’s Peter to find adventure than fighting crime with Deadpool?

Additionally, a crossover between Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man is in the works. Therefore, Holland’s Spider-Man is already working towards another major crossover that fans are dying to see. Based on the personality of Garfield’s Spider-Man, and the fact that Maguire has already starred in more Spider-Man movies, Deadpool’s introduction into the MCU is the perfect excuse to bring Garfield back into the limelight.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in Amazing Spider Man 2

Andrew Garfield has certainly become a fan favorite amongst Marvel audiences over the years, and he’s proved himself to be worthy of the role of Peter Parker. He managed to steal the show any time he was on the screen during No Way Home and fans have been raving about his performance ever since.

With so much Spider-Man and Deadpool backstory to draw from, Garfield’s popularity as an actor, and Spider-Man’s popularity as a character, the MCU should take advantage of Garfield’s talents and bring him back for another epic crossover.
