Despite the ongoing pandemic, Ryan Reynolds has had a whirlwind year. The Canadian actor has worked on three separate projects over the past couple of months, and it looks like he's finally starting to feel the fatigue. He is looking forward to taking some time off from movie-making, but fans may not have to wait too long before they see him back on the big screen in Deadpool 3.

In a recent Instagram post, the Deadpool actor shared a photo of him and Will Ferrell in action in their upcoming Apple TV Plus Christmas movie Spirited. After mentioning that the film was one of the most challenging projects he's said yes to (since his role required a great deal of singing, dancing, and playing in the sandbox with Ferrell), Reynolds announced that he is finally ready for a little 'sabbatical' from movie-making.

In addition to his post, in which he also gave a warm shoutout to Octavia Spencer, he added in his Instagram story that he will be using most of his time off in order to focus on parenting and his family. According to US Weekly, the break will largely benefit his three daughters with Blake Lively, all of whom are still young: James, 6, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2. However, Reynolds' role in Deadpool 3 is not limited to his acting, as he is also on the creative team with writers/sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux, the masterminds behind the hit show Bob's Burgers. Reynolds will oversee their script and hopefully, there will be no delays by the time his team starts filming.

On top of Spirited, Reynolds has also been busy promoting Free Guy, Netflix's Red Notice, and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard. While those titles have garnered a lot of interest, fans are, of course, most curious about Deadpool 3, especially since the film would showcase Reynolds' iconic character, Wade Wilson, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time ever. There are some concerns that Reynolds' 'sabbatical' will affect Deadpool 3's release date, but it seems unlikely that he would get in the way of Marvel Studios' strict schedule.

According to Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, filming for Deadpool 3 will commence sometime in 2022, so Reynolds won't be disappearing for too long. But he sure will need the rest given that Deadpool 3 will keep its R-rating, so fans can expect to see a whole lot of raunchy action from Reynolds in the upcoming threequel, and he's going to need all the energy he can get.

Deadpool 3 is currently in development.
