Even after deciding to pursue their own creative projects post-Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, Anthony and Joe Russo still work with the stars of the MCU, preferring to do so because they're comfortable with the actors. As such, several of their projects star MCU leads, 21 Bridges starring Chadwick Boseman, and Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth.

Back in April, the two directors said that they were in talks with Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. about getting to star in one of their upcoming movies. Now, in a new interview with Comicbook.com, the duo confirms that they're close to pinning down the actor for an upcoming project.

The duo claimed that they couldn't provide details about the project just yet, so we don't know any real details about it other than it will star RDJ. However, the two of them did say that it was only a matter of time before they could start revealing more information, so whatever they're planning will be brought to light soon.

The Russo's will likely release more information on the Downey project after the premiere of their new movie, Cherry, which will star Spider-Man actor Tom Holland. Cherry will premiere sometime later this year, and the Russos claim Holland's performance, in it is Oscar-worthy.
