Pokemon Home's announcement in 2019 was a major step forward for the franchise. The app, which is available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, offers a free cloud solution for collecting Pokemon across multiple different games in the franchise. There's been a problem since, however, which is that Game Freak hasn't updated Pokemon Home to support more recent games in the Pokemon franchise. That may be changing soon, however, as a Nintendo Insider is hinting at an update arriving as soon as April.

Nintendo Insider SamusHunter2 shared their report on Twitter, stating that they were told recently that Pokemon Home would soon be updated for multiple recently released Pokemon games. The list of games to be added in the update includes both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, the two most obvious choices. The remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are both highly demanded inclusions on Pokemon Home.

In what is certain to come as a surprise to many Pokemon fans, the report also claims that Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be supported on Pokemon Home. This is unexpected because Pokemon Legends: Arceus features a completely unique system for catching and collecting Pokemon compared to other games in the series. It's comparatively very easy to catch many Pokemon in the game. Connecting that to the Pokemon economy in other games is surprising to hear.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, Pokemon Home is a cloud storage system for collecting Pokemon across multiple games. It currently connects to games including Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu! and Eevee, Pokemon GO, and also the Pokemon Bank app and the 3DS Pokemon games the bank connects to. It's free to use, but is extremely limited -- 30 Pokemon in total can be stored. The Premium option costs $16 a year and allows for 6,000 Pokemon to be stored.

Of course, there's no official confirmation that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Pokemon Shining Pearl, let alone Pokemon Legends: Arceus, will be added to Pokemon Home yet. This is just a rumor until an announcement is made or a Pokemon event is confirmed. SamusHunter 2 is historically reliable for this kind of news, however.

It seems like it has always been just a matter of time before Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl were added to Pokemon Home. Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be a nice surprise if it's added, too. It also should be mentioned that it's frustrating that these games didn't receive Pokemon Home support closer to launch, if not at launch. Still, it's better late than never if they do add support. Here's hoping Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are connected to Pokemon Home earlier than their predecessors.

Pokemon Home is out now on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
