The Super Monkey Ball series is among one of Sega's most popular and most beloved franchises. Unfortunately, the series hasn't seen very much activity in the past couple of years, barring a 2014 mobile game and 2019's HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. However, if a recent rumor is to be believed, fans of the series may be getting a brand new mainline game sometime in the future.

Last year Sega stated that fans could be seeing a new Monkey Ball game if Banana Blitz HD was successful enough.  This new rumor, first revealed in a recently uploaded video by YouTuber Nick Robinson, seems to verify Sega's statement. In the video, Robinson is shown interviewing Brian Matt, who plays the voice of the announcer in the two original Super Monkey Ball games. While the voice actor doesn't betray many secrets due to an NDA, Brian Matt does confirm that he has been working on a new Monkey Ball game.

It has been some time since the last mainline title in the Super Monkey Ball franchise, so rumors of a new game is exciting news for longtime fans of the series. The only release that the Monkey Ball series has recently received was the HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, a game originally released in 2006. However, the recent HD remake has apparently ignited new interest in Super Monkey Ball, paving way for the franchise to make its comeback.

For fans, the chance of a new Super Monkey Ball game looks promising going into the future. While the rumor certainly shouldn't considered absolute fact, it does appear relatively reliable because of voice actor Brian Matt's comments. There's been no official announcement regarding the new game's development, but it seems as though Monkey Ball fans will get to roll their monkeys around again sooner rather than later.
