Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is out now, bringing with it a handful of new and returning fighters. According to a modder, however, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is keeping another addition secret, as players will also be seeing the return of Reptile via a secret fight.

Reptile has not been playable since Mortal Kombat X, and he had no role to play in the events of Mortal Kombat 11’s story. With the character once again sitting out of the action in Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath expansion, and no announcement for a return via the game’s Ultimate edition, it seemed unlikely that players would not encounter the fighter in MK11 at all. However, according to a Mortal Kombat modder Thethiny, there is a Reptile fight hidden in the game.

As it turns out, Reptile’s cameo in Mortal Kombat 11’s krypt will not be all the character does within the game, as a secret fight “can be triggered using summoning keys.” This is as specific as the modder was able to get with the information on Reptile’s hidden fight, though he did indicate that the code contains “mentions of Reptile’s invisibility, spit, and the forceball.” According to the modder, the new skills are likely for the secret fight.

Reptile’s classic Mortal Kombat skin has been in the game for some time, with Scorpion wearing the green robes of the original ninja version of Reptile. Players will likely be doing battle with this take on the character, given that the skin is already in the game, but it is cool to see that NetherRealm has taken the time to add Reptile’s moveset for the secret fight. While players would undoubtedly like to fill the shoes of the character themselves, he is still probably not going to be playable.

Seeing another classic Mortal Kombat fighter getting love within Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will surely be appreciated by hardcore fans of the series. Mileena’s highly requested return has been extremely well received by fans, with the mutated character being teased for over a year by Ed Boon. While Reptile is not nearly as popular as Mileena seems to be nowadays, a secret battle with the fighter is still a welcome surprise.

For players who do not have the summoning keys needed to trigger the clash with Reptile, though, they can use the game’s guest fighters to live out childhood fantasies. With players already making Rambo and Terminator fight via Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, more dream matchups are sure to come.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
