New rumors suggest that classic Konami games, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2, may be re-releasing on PC with an announcement soon.

The new PC rumor comes from verified Resetera member Potterson, who has a track record for these things including originally leaking details about Starfield in the past. Specifics about the re-releases are currently unknown including if the games would be sold individually or in some sort of commemorative package like the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection released in 2012.

Both Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 have had PC releases in the past but cannot be found on digital storefronts like Steam or part of GOG. Both classic titles require a bit of back end work to get running on modern PC's so a modern port that's widely available would definitely be welcomed by fans who wish to play these modern classics.

Despite the Metal Gear Solid franchise seemingly ending with Metal Gear Solid 5 (and its odd offshoot Metal Gear Survive), the series remains popular among fans who want a new sequel or remake of the original. In the wake of Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax Media some fans have called on Sony to make a similar move and purchase Konami. While there is no indication of Sony making such a drastic move, it would not be the first time Sony has been linked to the publisher.

Earlier in the year rumors suggested that Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event would include a new Silent Hill title that would be exclusive to the console, the event came and went and despite the rumor persisting, a new Silent Hill was not featured at Sony's second PlayStation 5 showcase in mid September. If a new Silent Hill does exist, it's possible the game will be revealed at TGS later this week.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Vita
