Arc System Works is a celebrated fighting game developer, with one of its most recent and acclaimed games being Dragon Ball FighterZ. Fans may be wondering what's next for the studio, and if a recent rumor is to be believed, it could very well be a Godzilla vs. Kong 2D fighting game that will tie in to the 2020 film.

This rumor comes from 4chan, so fans should take it with a huge grain of salt. Even so, 4chan leaks have sometimes been proven accurate in the past, like the recent and substantial Pokemon Sword and Shield leak, for instance. Luckily, we won't have to wait all that much longer to find out if there is any truth to the supposed Godzilla vs. Kong game "leak."

That's because the leaker said that the Godzilla vs. Kong game will be officially announced during Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference. Microsoft's press conference is set to take place on Sunday, June 9, so anyone interested in a kaiju fighting game only has to wait a few more days to find out if it's true or not.

The leaker also revealed that the Godzilla vs. Kong game would be coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a rather expansive base roster.

Here is the leaked Godzilla vs. Kong roster in alphabetical order, so kaiju fans can more easily see if their favorite monster made the cut:

  • Anguirus
  • Baragon
  • Behemoth
  • Destoroyah
  • Gigan
  • Godzilla (1954)
  • Godzilla (2014)
  • Jet Jaguar
  • King Caesar
  • King Ghidorah
  • Kiryu
  • Kong
  • Mecha Godzilla Mk1
  • MechaniKong
  • Megalon
  • Mothra
  • Muto
  • Orga
  • Rodan
  • Space Godzila
  • Zilla

Godzilla vs. Kong fighting game could be interesting, but with the disappointing box office results of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, one has to wonder if there will be a huge audience for it. Not to mention past Godzilla games have largely launched to negative reviews, so some fans may be hesitant to pick up a new game starring the iconic monster.

Then again, Arc System Works is a celebrated developer, and did award-winning work with Dragon Ball FighterZ. If any studio can make a great Godzilla vs. Kong fighting game, it's Arc System Works, and so if this rumor is true, Godzilla fans have good reason to be excited.

We'll find out if there is any truth to this Godzilla vs. Kong game rumor come Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference on Sunday, June 9.

Godzilla vs. Kong is rumored to be in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
