The Forza Horizon series is one of the premier racing series in the games industry as well as being one of Xbox's biggest exclusives. With the expected announcement of Forza Horizon 5, many fans have been eagerly waiting to see where the open-world racing title will be set.

Forza Horizon 4 took place in Great Britain after the entry beforehand was set in Southern Australia. Rumors have begun circulating around the series' newest entry, including that Forza Horizon 5 would not be set in Japan according to a couple of industry insiders as playtest invites of the game have reportedly started being sent to Xbox Insiders.

Now Forza Horizon fans have begun theorizing that the next entry will be taking the series to Mexico. The theory comes following two tweets made by Xbox community member Klobrille as well as Windows Central's Jez Corden, both recently discussing Mexico and having to learn Spanish. Last year Jeff Grubb said that he had some information on Forza Horizon 5 but he didn't want to reveal any of it as the game had not been announced yet, so it is possible that he could be dropping some hints leading up to the game's announcement.

While some players in the community were disappointed that the series may not be heading to Japan, Mexico could also be a wonderful location for the series. As Klobrille points out, the variety of locations, beautiful culture, and size make the country very suitable for an open-world racing game. Xbox consoles are also the top-selling consoles in Mexico, so setting the popular series there would be a great treat for Xbox fans there.

However, some fans of the series are voicing their concerns about the setting. Some cite that they would possibly miss the popular season system that was present in Forza Horizon 4 while others also say that Brazil would have been a better option since as they don't associate Mexico with motorsports.

Of course, all of this is just rumors, and there will be no way to know the setting until Forza Horizon 5 is officially announced. A leak last year suggested that the game may be aiming for a launch in 2021, so many fans are still hoping for that to be true. With Xbox's participation in this year's digital E3 event, it is possible that something will be announced regarding Forza Horizon 5 there, so hopefully, fans will not have too long to wait before they get some official answers to their questions.

Forza Horizon 5 is currently in development.
