Beginning life in 2004, the Far Cry series has exploded in popularity, with each installment being bigger in scope. Far Cry 6 is not far from release now, and much of the fan base is already excited about what's to be expected. With a recent in-depth gameplay trailer for the Ubisoft title showing the latest iteration of the game, the community is clearer to understanding what's going to be in store for them. Now, a recent rumor has been posted which gives some idea of how much storage the game will require on the PS5 version.

Posting to Twitter a couple of days ago, an account that goes by the name of PlayStation Game Size has announced what it believes will be the hard drive capacity that will be required for Far Cry 6 on the new-gen system. According to this speculation, the game will require 39 GB of storage, or 38.945 to be specific. The post also says that this is before any Day One patches are added onto it. Some may feel this is slightly less than originally anticipated, but again, this is before any additional updates are installed on release day.

If true, it also means that it will take up less space than the PC version. Recent spec details show that Far Cry 6 on the PC will use around 60 GB of storage. However, it's worth bearing in mind that PC versions of games, especially triple-AAA titles, are often more hardware intensive, whereas console versions need to be conscious of universal hardware specifications of the likes of PlayStation and Xbox.

To reiterate, these are just speculations at this stage, and no official comment has been mentioned at the time of this article going live about exactly how much storage the new Far Cry will use on PS5. Given how much Far Cry 6 is likely to push the series forward in terms of content and visuals, it's likely that the game will be fairly substantial in size. At this stage, it can be estimated that the game will take up somewhere in the region of 40-60 GB.

Whatever the case may be, October is going to be a good month for FPS fans. Far Cry 6 will join other highly anticipated games that are coming out, such as Back 4 Blood, and Battlefield 2042. It's impossible to say which of the big triple-AAA first-person shooters will come out on top, but Ubisoft's title will definitely be up there with the best of them.

Far Cry 6 launches October 7 on Amazon Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
