Crossovers have been a huge component to Fortnite, helping to take the game to new heights in the past couple of years. Surprisingly, Epic Games has been able to partner with all sorts of companies, IPs, and franchises over the years from movies like The Matrix, games including God of War, and even both major comic labels, DC and Marvel. In fact, previous seasons have even been devoted to particular brands such as when players worked with various Marvel characters to stop the world eating villain, Galactus.

Epic has even used these crossovers to help promote big events, such as The Mandalorian as well as a recent addition to the Fortnite shop which adds in Boba Fett in advance of his upcoming show on Disney Plus. Crossovers are big business in Fortnite, and as such, remain a big part of the game's continued success. New rumors indicate that even more Xbox content is likely on the way, joining up with the previously released Master Chief.

Over on the XboxEra Podcast, Nick Baker, who many know as Shpeshal Nick, revealed with co-host Jeff Grubb, that Microsoft is preparing to launch a lot of Xbox related content inside of Fortnite during the rumor mill segement. While Grubb or Baker didn't provide a comprehensive list, they did seemingly confirm that Doom Slayer is one of the characters who will be available for purchase. Baker also mentioned that as part of this push, more Bethesda characters will be included in this as well.

In terms of timelines, the duo did warn fans that the Doom Slayer release could take months to finally happen, citing Naruto's late 2021 Fortnite release after rumors started appearing May 2021. Grubb followed that up by saying that 2022 could be a big year for video game character skins in Fortnite. The big reason is that Fortnite is starting to run out of movie-based characters, already having a lot of content available as well as other mediums as well like comic book characters.

Currently, Fortnite is in the middle of its annual Winterfest event, giving a holiday look and feel to the game. Players can even claim free gifts each day by visiting Sgt. Winter and his lodge, which unlock all kinds of goodies including skins for Polar Peely and Krisabelle. Winterfest has also seen the arrival of Spider-Man, just in time with the new film, as well as web shooter items which allows any character to zip around the Battle Royale island just like Spidey.

Fortnite is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The mobile version of Fortnite is still off the digital storefronts.
