Right now, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the top games in the world, largely thanks to the free-to-play Warzone battle royale that's associated with it. However, Call of Duty fans know that a new game in the first-person shooter franchise comes out every fall like clockwork, and so a new game will be stealing the spotlight soon. And while Activision has yet to officially reveal any specific details about the 2020 Call of Duty game, a well-known leaker has revealed some new information about what fans can expect.

TheGamingRevolution, who has accurately leaked Call of Duty franchise news in the past, has uploaded a new video about Call of Duty 2020. Apparently, Call of Duty 2020 will be set in the Black Ops universe, but will not retain the "Black Ops" subtitle. This would mark the first Call of Duty game from Treyarch to not be called "Black Ops" since 2008's Call of Duty: World at War 12 years ago. It should be noted, however, that World at War was also directly tied to the Black Ops narrative.

Previous reports have indicated that Call of Duty 2020 would be called Black Ops 5 or even just "Black Ops," but if TheGamingRevolution's information is correct, that is no longer the case. The rest of the video reiterates some other information about Call of Duty 2020 that's been talked about in the past, like the game's supposed Cold War setting and how at least part of it will take place during the Vietnam War.

Luckily for Call of Duty fans, more information on what Call of Duty 2020 will entail should come sooner rather than later. Activision typically reveals its new Call of Duty games in May or June each year, so an announcement should come within the next couple of months. Then again, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has thrown a big wrench in a lot of entertainment company's plans, and so it's possible that Call of Duty 2020's announcement will come later than expected due to it.

In fact, previous reports have indicated that Call of Duty 2020 will be announced next month, though the game itself may see a delay. If Call of Duty 2020 is delayed out of this year, it would be the first time that a main series Call of Duty game didn't release since Call of Duty 2 launched in 2005.

There's a lot of uncertainty when it comes to Call of Duty 2020. Activision won't even confirm its developer, though it's generally believed to be Treyarch at the helm. Considering this, hopefully some things are cleared up sooner rather than later so fans can stop speculating about what's next for the long-running first-person shooter franchise.

Call of Duty 2020 is in development.
