On August 11, fans of battle royale games will have a new playground to compete in as Iron Galaxy's Rumbleverse launches on that day. While the game had previously suffered from a delay, several large playtests held over the past few months have proven that Rumbleverse is ready to turn heads. Ahead of the game's release, developer Iron Galaxy has revealed some new features that players can expect to try in Rumbleverse on launch day.

First announced during The Game Awards 2021, Rumbleverse is described as a free-to-play battle royale like no others. While it's true that players will still be battling each other in a location that shrinks gradually in Rumbleverse, the way it plays out will be totally different as it is a melee-focused game, with elements borrowed directly from the 3D fighting genre. Up to 40 players can trade punches at the same time in this seemingly comedic brawler royale with strong pro wrestling vibes.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, the Iron Galaxy team has doled out details about two new game modes that will accompany the standard Solo Mode in Rumbleverse on launch day. The first is Duos Mode, which puts each player side by side with a friend, where they will be protecting each other from the other pairs, with the biggest catch being that they will start with fewer stat slots and a reduced health bar.

As expected, a duos mode in battle royale games will require good communication and teamwork, especially since players won't have access to the Superstar Comeback system while loading into Rumbleverse as a pair. Instead, when a teammate gets eliminated, the player will get additional stat slots and extra maximum health. This can be avoided, though, as players will have a short window to revive their teammates who run out of health.

The second new mode is Playground Mode. This is essentially Rumbleverse's take on a standard practice mode, where players can freely explore the game world while learning about the game's mechanics. Interestingly, players can also bring a friend to a Playground server, and they will have the option to practice fighting each other while also messing around with all items and special moves that Rumbleverse has to offer.

Players will have one week to try out things in Rumbleverse before the real action begins on August 18 with the start of Season One and its associated Battle Pass. Iron Galaxy confirms that the Battle Pass will be priced at 1,000 Brawla Bills (Rumbleverse's in-game currency), but the game is free to download on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Epic Games Store.

Rumbleverse releases August 11 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
