Deadline shook the world of comic book television dramas earlier this week when it published a statement that Ruby Rose is leaving The CW "Arrowverse" show Batwoman after just one season. The reason for her departure was rumored but not entirely clear at the time, though it seems now there's more confirmation that Rose's choice stemmed from Batwoman's production schedule.

The long hours required of Rose as her series' lead led to friction on the set according to Variety, which says multiple sources have confirmed these concerns. With a 20+ episode season on Arrowverse television shows, this isn't really surprising to hear.

However Batwoman is already confirmed to have a Season 2, and in a previous statement Warner Bros. said it is committed to "casting another LGBTQ actress in the groundbreaking role." One high-profile name who has expressed interest is Stephanie Beatriz, currently known for playing Rosa Diaz in NBC's Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

However the show decides to adapt to this sudden departure of its lead should be interesting to see. Given The CW's announcement that Batwoman would play a big role in the next Arrowverse Crossover special with the upcoming show Superman and Lois, clearly the Arrowverse has big plans for its Kate Kane character.

Batwoman is currently airing on The CW.
