Thanks to Royal Panda and academic experts, there is finally an answer for which gamers have the highest IQ. To determine the results, a four-part IQ test was administered to 1,001 gamers and technology users.

The study focused on four key measurements of intelligence: Verbal Intelligence, Mathematical Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Visual Reasoning. Before performing the test, each participant was asked demographic identifiers, such as preferred platform and recently played game, which was necessary for calculating the results. Due to the methods utilized, the study shows IQ data for popular games and the various consoles, and thus are not necessarily a fully representative sample.

Based on conclusions by Royal Panda, PC gamers are the smartest with a collective IQ of 112.3. Following that up are PlayStation users with 110.7, Xbox touting 103.8, Nintendo Switch players at 101.3, and Mobile lagging behind with 99.4. That said, PlayStation gamers did rank higher in Logical and Visual Reasoning than their peers on PC.

Adding to the mix are results for some of the most played games of the current day. At the top of the list are Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege players, whose collective IQ of 120.3 dominated the results. Coming in at second are Among Us gamers with a 118.9 IQ score, and Minecraft players with 116.3. At the bottom are players of the hit mobile game Angry Birds, with an overall IQ of 95.8. For those wondering, Female gamers beat out their male opponents with an IQ of 108.4 as compared to 102.3.

While it is great to see the results, they may not come as much of a surprise to gamers. Given their affinity for Verbal Intelligence and Mathematical Ability, it makes sense PC gamers would have the top IQ. Though, it is interesting to see how PlayStation gamers had higher results with Logical and Visual Reasoning, possibly due to the emphasis of puzzle and cinematic games on console versus PC.

One downside to this study may be how it could reinforce unhealthy stereotypes among the gaming community. Those who view PC as the superior platform may now feel more justified in that mindset. In addition, it is unclear how this study compares gamers globally, as the specific regions in which the test was administered is not specified. For instance, mobile gaming is a worldwide phenomenon that interests gamers from countries across the globe, whereas Xbox players have a primarily North American focus. That said, the study performed by Royal Panda may give the industry intriguing insights into the minds of gamers.
