Fans of roguelike platform games will love the indie title Rogue Legacy 2, which was released in 2022. Players fell in love with its 2D art style and platformer mechanics that made its predecessor Rogue Legacy so successful. Rogue Legacy 2 has its own twist as players will play as the heirs of their adventurers who take on the strengths and weaknesses of their parents.

Surviving in these challenging titles requires more than a bloodline, as players need to build their characters through the gear they equip in order to surpass enemies and get stronger. One important way in which this is done is through armor, which is found through blueprints and then purchased at a blacksmith.

5 Warden

Warden Armor

For such an early game armor set, the Warden armor is a great purchase for players that have chosen to play classes such as the Knight or the Fighter. The Warden set gives a phenomenal boost to dexterity, as well as increasing the chance of getting critical hits to those wearing it. Unlike the late-game gear that players will be aiming towards that are incredibly heavy, the Warden set, more particularly the Warden Chest Piece, has the best weight-to-defense ratio, making it incredibly beneficial to wear.

After unlocking the blueprint for this set, fans of fast-paced combat can purchase this set from the blacksmith for a total of 5,850 gold and 4,200 ore. This armor can be improved further through upgrading, meaning players that are trying to avoid wasting gold and ore can continue to upgrade this armor until they have felt that they have outgrown it. For players that want something for magic but similar, then the Scholar set can be used in place of this one, though it does have a lower defense.

4 Sanguine

Out of all the armor sets of Rogue Legacy 2, the Sanguine gear is by far the most interesting and fun for players to use, especially those with high strength builds. As the fourth set for players to unlock, beginners of this adventure title will benefit greatly due to the life steal effect the armor has granted upon it. Players that are hit by an enemy are likely to steal some of that opponent's health, allowing individuals to self-heal in difficult fights.

Players shouldn't be afraid to mix and match sets, and therefore pairing this set with parts from the Obsidian gear will help further the players' vitality, which couples well with being able to heal themselves. The Sanguine set is all-around a great purchase, costing a moderate amount of gold and ore due to being such an early-game set. Players hoping to wear the entirety of this gear will need to supply the blacksmith with 8,500 gold and 6,400 ore. Upgrading this set will increase its overall defense as well as its boost to the overall base stats, especially strength.

3 Drowned

Unlike the Warden armor which focuses on critical hits with weapons, the Drowned set's main focus is overall weapon damage. This set values high strength builds and can be perfectly coupled with the previous sanguine set to make not only high damage hits but also benefit from the life-stealing mechanic of the Sanguine attire. Players will want to focus on obtaining this set once they have hit mid-game, to avoid making mistakes when the enemies start to become far too powerful for the Warden armor.

Due to being the seventh set of armor to be found through the levels, players will be expected to pay 18,450 gold and 13,250 ore for the set. This is a moderate fee to pay, although it is quite the jump from the previous gear. Even without being upgraded, the Drowned set has incredible buffs to strength but once upgrading it four times players will have a base stat boost of 48 with a similar amount of intelligence.

2 Kin

Kin Armor

As the final set for players to unlock, this gear is perfect for not only end-game achievements but also the feeling of accomplishment from getting the best gear possible in the game. This set of armor's main focus is boosting up the main stats in the game. However, it doesn't do much for intelligence, so players that are hoping to focus on this may be better off with a different set of armor. The Kin gear as a whole is a great set for players that are focusing on weapon damage builds, especially due to the Kin Cape being the only cape in the game that provides both boosts to vitality and dexterity.

Players hoping to purchase the entirety of the Kin Gear will need to provide the blacksmith with 35,500 gold and 26,500 ore. This makes the set incredibly pricey, but it is to be expected for an endgame armor. Another thing players should note about the Kin set is the carry weight to wear the entire set, as the best armor in the game, it is also the heaviest. Players that hope to wear this will need to focus on increasing their carrying capacity if they wish to equip the entire set.

1 Leviathan

Leviathan Armor

The Leviathan armor supplies the highest amount of base intelligence out of the sets of armor available to players to find and purchase. Players that are focusing on magic-based builds which are argued by fans as being the best classes will want to work towards obtaining this gear. As the tenth armor set in the game, it may take a while to achieve this. In the meantime, using lower-ranking armor may be better while increasing the carry weight the player's character can hold, so they will be able to equip the Leviathan gear when the time comes.

Similar to other late-game sets, this gear will cost players 30,750 gold and 22,750 ore to purchase from the blacksmith, making it quite the pricey grind for those looking to use it. The Leviathan gear ranks higher than the final set known as the Kin set due to the defense-to-weight ratio between the two sets of gear. Unlike the Kin set which has great armor but is incredibly heavy, the Leviathan set has just as much defense but less weight, making it much better to use in the cases of defense instead of just stats.

Rogue Legacy 2 is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
