Rogue Company released in 2020 and is now onto its second year. The free-to-play game has seen regular updates since its release in the form of seasons, which add new weapons and skins for the game. Now the first season for Rogue Company’s second year sees the hero shooter crossing over with a suitably action-oriented Hollywood title.

Rogue Company is a free-to-play shooter, which means it must regularly add updates and new content to keep players interested as its money comes from players purchasing this content with the in-game currency. Doing these updates seasonally allows players enough time to see everything an update has to offer without it being buried by new content. While also allowing developer's the time to put together an update of complimenting features under one banner or crossover event.

The latest update called Rambo, King Cobra, is a crossover with the Rambo movie franchise. Adding new weapons inspired by those seen in the films as well as a Rambo skin for the character Seeker. Costing 2000 Rogue bucks, which would be around $20 to purchase. The Rambo Bundle permanently unlocks the Seeker rogue along with cosmetic items inspired by the 2008 Rambo film.

Most games that crossover with Rambo chose an 80s version of the character. The 2008 Rambo movie was chosen for Rogue Company over the 80s movies or even the most recent film, likely due to another in-game event that the bundle adds to Rogue Company. Where during matches players will travel upstream on Rambo’s boat fulfilling contracts for in-game rewards. The 2008 Rambo film is the plot-line that inspired this event. The update does add things outside the Rambo bundle, however. Such as backfilling for online matches that have players leave mid-match, allowing other players to join mid-game and take their place.

Three new maps have also been added to the 6v6 mode raising the total number of maps for this mode to thirteen, namely Meltdown, Palace, and Skyfell. Hi-Rez studios, the developer of Rogue Company, is no stranger to a crossover, being a sister company to the developers of SMITE which has seen continuous crossover events. This Rambo bundle might be the beginning of a series of crossover events for the game featuring recognizable pop culture icons.

Rogue Company aren't the first game to do a crossover with the Rambo Franchise. Mortal Kombat 11 added Rambo along with a series of other characters from 80s Hollywood action films such as the T-800 from Terminator 2 and RoboCop. Perhaps these characters will be next for Rogue Company as well.

Rogue Company is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
