Hi-Rez Studios is branching out with Rogue Company, an upcoming free-to-play third-person shooter developed by the new team First Watch Games. Rogue Company turned some heads when it was first announced, and now fans can try it out for themselves to see if it lives up to the hype. As announced during the most recent Summer Game Fest eventRogue Company is now available across all platforms in closed beta.

Rogue Company's cross-play support is in  full swing in the closed beta, along with cross-progression. Available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, those willing to pay $30 to get the Standard Founder's Pack can try the game now. The Rogue Company Founder's Pack has some other bonuses for players to check out as well, including eight extra playable Rogues that apparently won't be available to free players, along with special cosmetics. The extra playable Rogues available in the Rogue Company Standard Founder's Pack include Chaac, Dahlia, Gl1tch, Lancer, Phantom, Scorch, Talon, and Vy.

Rogue Company's surprise closed beta launch wasn't the only thing fans were treated to today. The developers also released some new gameplay during the Nintendo Direct Mini presentation, as well as unveiled a new cinematic trailer showcasing a new Rogue.

As far as multiplayer game modes go, Rogue Company has a couple different ones that have been announced so far. The first is Extraction, which is a 4v4 game mode where one team has to hack an objective and the other team defends the point. The other game mode is a 2v2 mode called Wingman. It seems likely that more new game modes will be added to Rogue Company over time, but specifics have not been announced just yet.

With Rogue Company now having entered closed beta, fans should see a lot of improvement between now and its full free-to-play release, whenever that happens to be.

In the meantime, Rogue Company's closed beta launch wasn't the only thing announced by Hi-Rez Studios during the latest Summer Game Fest event. Besides Rogue Company, new character Tsukuyomi was confirmed for the company's persistently popular Smite game.

Rogue Company is available now in closed beta on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
