Rockstar Games fans have experienced some of the most iconic games ever released in the gaming universe, under titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Due to the high standard of games usually produced by this international giant, there is an understandable amount of hype every time a new Rockstar title is discussed, with many people becoming desperate for details.

After a three-year absence of any new games, Rockstar is due some fresh releases. With Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition being released this November, fans can be satisfied for now, however, they will soon be looking past The Trilogy for something grander. As many Rockstar fans know, GTA 6 has been an urban legend for the last few years, with more attention gathering around it over the past twelve months. A reveal is due by the end of this year, and there are a few more potential signs Rockstar has laid out for its audience that may point towards the sixth edition of the GTA series.

Possible Teasers Found in Rockstar's Games

In a series of YouTube videos, hard-core GTA fans discovered a potential clue for GTA 6 hidden in a trailer for the GTA Online Cayo Perico heist at the beginning of the year. The trailer spans for less than a minute and features a surveillance video displaying different parts of the island. At the bottom of the screen, two coordinates are shown: 38.527A N and 79.6129A W. When typed into Google Earth, these coordinates zero in on a remote location in Virginia, USA, where a tight hairpin road can be found. On closer inspection, the road resembles the roman numerals for the number six, leading fans to believe this is a reference to GTA 6.

The heist trailer isn’t the only time fans have picked out a potential GTA 6 clue in a Rockstar title. A YouTuber named Strange Man released a video featuring an Easter egg found in Red Dead Redemption 2, released three years ago, of a skeleton belonging to a man named Rodolfo. The skeleton bears an interesting letter, written by his brother Cardinal Blanco, who persuades Rodolfo to stay in California, rather than travelling East. Judging by the smartly dressed pile of bones, Rodolfo obviously ignored his brother’s plea and headed East anyway, dying in the unforgiving desert of New Austin. Perhaps this is Rockstar’s subtle way of removing California from the possible list of GTA 6 setting locations.

Red Dead Redemption John meeting Odessa for the first time

Strange Man also pointed out a possible clue found all the way back in Red Dead Redemption 1, hinting at Rockstars' then up-and-coming title GTA 5. Like the RDR2 clue, this possible hint originates from the desert of New Austin, where a man called Sam Odessa can be found during a stranger’s mission. Odessa can be interacted with several times throughout RDR1, with each interaction showing different segments of his timeline. Odessa is obsessed with travelling West, to California, and eventually dies trying to pursue his dreams. Strange Man’s video implies that Odessa’s obsession with the West was a foreshadowing of GTA 5’s location, set in a fictional part of California, as Odessa bears a striking resemblance to the president of Rockstar, Sam Houser.

Going back even further, GTA 3 offered a glimpse into the setting of GTA: Vice City before its release date in 2002, featuring a billboard with an aeroplane on it and the text “See you in Miami." As Rockstar fans know, Vice City is a fictional place based in Miami, meaning it is highly likely Rockstar added this as a secret gesture towards the eighties-themed title that would be released a year later.

Although these little hints and clues need a bit of digging to uncover, and still may not be the solid links many fans hope for, Rockstar Games does know how to tease its player base in the wake of upcoming titles. One thing is for sure: as the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 approaches, more clues about its setting and gameplay are bound to come to the surface.
