Rockstar Games is one of if not the most popular studios in the gaming industry, notably for the creation of the Grand Theft Auto series and a few other titles which followed shortly after. Whilst fans have been desperately waiting for any major news regarding their next entry into the series, there are also some other IPs many would wish to see remade with the technology at Rockstar's disposal today.

Despite rumors of Rockstar shelving plans for remasters of previous titles amongst their plethora of games, the possibility for future remakes still remains as seen with the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition remasters, and fans of the studio would certainly be on board.

For many new players who are not so familiar with Rockstar's older entries, this is a title which was critically acclaimed at the time of its release on PlayStation 2. Considering its "Beat-'Em Up" genre, it featured some of the more engaging hand-to-hand combat any Rockstar game up has shown till this day, giving each of its characters a unique set of moves.

With the massive growth and the advancement in technology as we see in their modern day titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, a remake of this title would be rightly justified. Not only will it give players who have never had a chance to get their hands on the game a greater way to experience it, but it would also add to the catalog of blockbuster titles Rockstar are currently famous for.

5 Manhunt Series

Gameplay

These are some of Rockstar's titles which are often labeled the most controversial, given the levels of violence portrayed within them. So much so, that at the time of Manhunt 2's release, the game was banned in countries across the world including the United Kingdom. Red Dead Redemption 2 also suffered the same fate after it was banned in Saudi Arabia due to its violence and nudity.

If Rockstar has any intention to remake any of these two titles, there are multiple ways they can go about doing so. Whether they maintain the levels of violence portrayed or choose to censor some or most of it, it would be beneficial for fans of the studio of have not played the title and also hold interest for those who are familiar with these games.

4 Bully

Gameplay

Bully is one of the more unique games Rockstar Games have made over the years, and maintains a much less brutal and mature tones their other titles contain. Many fans have called for a remake of the game after its increased popularity, and an insight into what would have been a sequel which was allegedly canceled.

Given the major focus on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, it is more unlikely that fans will have their wanted reunion with this title, but is not out of the question. If Rockstar's wish is to revamp this title to its full potential, fans would be highly appreciative, and even more, so if followed by a sequel.

3 Grand Theft Auto (GTA 1)

Rockstar's first game

The kick-starter for Rockstar Games (Rockstar North at the time), Grand Theft Auto must receive a remake. As the first game released by the studio in 1997, not many players of the newer entries would be familiar with this game, and is an unlikely title for gamers to revisit. Given its over-the-top camera view, and the gap between the game's features in comparison to GTA 4 and 5, a revamp of the title is desperately required.

For some, a remake would be viewed almost as if it was an entire new title, and the introduction of all the current features of their modern titles. Leading as the studios first game, it is only reasonable for Rockstar to produce a faithful reconstruction giving fans the opportunity to allow fans to experience the game in the best manner possible.

2 Red Dead Redemption

John Marston gameplay

After Red Dead Redemption 2's release in 2018, players were able to experience a level of realism and open-world quality no other Rockstar title has achieved before. Based on rumors, this was one of the titles which were in line for a remaster until focus was shifted to GTA 6. Despite this, it could turn out to be good news later down the line, as Rockstar may change motives to suit a full remake for Red Dead Redemption rather than a remaster.

If this does turn out to be the case, the most important thing for Rockstar would be to implement all the aspects which made Red Dead Redemption 2 the critically acclaimed title that it is, which would ultimately enhance the great game Red Dead Redemption still is.

1 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

CJ gameplay

As one of the titles amongst the collection of remasters within the GTA Trilogy and its disappointment amongst fans and critics, San Andreas remains one of the more requested remakes from fans and players of the franchise. Given GTA 5's locations and maintenance of "Grove Street", Rockstar already have some groundwork laid down for a potential remake.

This would see many of Rockstar's current innovations in recent games implemented within San Andreas, and with the game having the longest playtime in the series, players would grasp at the opportunity to play through it once more or even for the first time. Seen as one of the best games of all time especially within the era of PlayStation 2, Rockstar would be doing their fanbase a great service in showing more love to a well-known classic.
