A popular Twitch streamer known as Karma was shocked through her controller while playing Rocket League after her house was hit by lightning.

While live streaming, professional Rocket League gamer Karma was casting a match on Sunday, June 28, when she was seemingly struck by lighting through her controller, but continued on with her stream following what sounded like a very painful injury.

While Karma is currently a professional Rocket League player, she formerly played professional Hearthstone and Call of Duty via Twitch as well, according to her Twitch bio.

This isn’t the first instance of a Twitch streamer strangely getting in harm’s way. Although Karma doesn’t have her camera on during the match in question, her shriek and a loud thump can be heard near the match’s thirty-minute mark, followed by stunned silence. She continues commentating on the match a couple of minutes later, despite the shock sounding audibly loud and painful.

Karma explained the situation to her viewers while still live streaming the Rocket League match. “We’re having bad thunderstorms here,” she says and explains that her house must have been hit by lightning and traveled through her controller. But she continues to update her fans during the live stream and assure them that she’s alright. “Sorry guys, I am a little bit upset right now,” she says, “I’m completely fine. I’m just kinda—I got scared. And also my hand burned a little bit.”

Later on Twitter, Karma tells her fans that she did in fact go to the doctor to get checked out following the electric shock. She says that her hands are burned and the controller is broken. Karma considers herself extremely lucky, but others tell her to buy a lottery ticket because of the insane odds. Either way, all fans are wishing her a speedy recovery from the sustained injuries.

The wacky title has found itself in the news recently due to mandatory lockdown and social distancing measures. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, sports leagues have been put on pause to keep players safe, and broadcasters have responded by airing esports like professional Rocket League
