With No Time To Die set to hit theaters on September 30, fans of the James Bond franchise and Rocket League are in for an extraordinary surprise. An announcement on the game's official site revealed that a collaboration between brands has resulted in the legendary Aston Martin DB5, plus more notable content inspired by 007's filmography, arriving in the Item Shop.

For all parties involved, the choice to tie James Bond in with Rocket League was likely a simple one since his supercar is a perfect fit for the game's frantic, vehicle-flipping speed. First seen in the third Bond movie, Goldfinger, the Aston Martin DB5 is being taken from the silver screen and thrown onto the pitch by Rocket League developer Psyonix.

Revealed on Twitter to acclaim from both fans of the game and films alike, the brief reveal trailer shows 007's famous ride speeding around the rooftops of Italy. It then dramatically drifts on top of a narrow bridge, before using its notorious jet-boosters to blast the battle ball into the air. The reveal conclusively ends with a splash-screen that states, "James Bond Will Return," a closing credit tagline that dates back to From Russia with Love.

With the reveal over, players will be able to purchase the Aston Martin DB5 in the Item Shop from July 29 to August 4. There it will be on sale for a somewhat steep 1,100 Credits. Once the player has acquired the supercar, the accompanying items will also be added to their inventory: Signature Silver Birch Paint Finish, Engine Audio, DB5 Wheels, and a Reel Life Decal. Furthermore, the iconic car is set to be the first of many James Bond-themed content destined to hit Rocket League in the future as Psyonix declared that a “multi-year collaboration” between MGM and Aston Martin has been set up.

Although the title is over six years old, Rocket League remains one of the more popular multiplayer games available, with the title gaining a well-earned positive reputation in the community, even becoming popular enough to strike partnerships with major blockbuster movies. This is despite the fact that just a few years ago it was a small game generating some excitement on the PlayStation Network. Not bad for a title that was originally obtainable for free to PS Plus subscribers as a way to gain some traction.

In summary, its success is due in part to Psyonix's commitment to creating new content for Rocket League influenced by the requests of its fans. Whatever the demand, Psyonix has proven throughout Rocket League's existence that it will go above and beyond to keep players happy. The Aston Martin DB5 is simply another example of that philosophy in action.

Rocket League is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
