Rocket League is gearing up for Halloween with the return of a seasonal event, as well as some spooky items.

Rocket League has been an online gaming staple since its release in 2015. While popularity and a thriving playerbase haven't been an issue, developer Psyonix chose to transition Rocket League to a free-to-play model last month, with great success. Now, the game is capitalizing on its influx of players with a holiday event.

According to Rocket League's press release, the car soccer game will see the return of Haunted Hallows, complete with a Ghostbusters tie-in. Players will have the opportunity to acquire new items by completing special Event Challenges, from player avatar borders to car toppers, Stay Puft wheels, and slime boosts.

Items that some players may have missed last Halloween are also returning to the item shop. The iconic Ecto-1 vehicle from the Ghostbusters movies will be up for grabs, as well as items like the Reaper Goal Explosion. In addition, Event Challenges will award Golden Pumpkins that contain items from past series, such as the Vindicator. The event marks a great opportunity for new Rocket League players to trick out their cars.

Two Limited-Time Modes will also arrive with the event: Haunted Heatseeker, featuring a new arena; and Spike Rush, which will use the nighttime map variants for added creepiness. Heatseeker will be playable as soon as the event goes live, while Spike Rush will be available starting October 26.

Haunted Hallows launches at 9:00 a.m. PT tomorrow, October 20, and runs through 6:00 p.m. PT on November 2.

Rocket League is free-to-play on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
