Rocket Arena is a unique 3D sort of Smash Bros. with shooting. Players battle in arenas using their weapons and abilities to knock opponents out of the arena's range. It's a unique idea and it's launching very soon on July 14. But much remains to be said about Rocket Arena, which publisher Electronic Arts only recently started promoting. Making up for lost time, Electronic Arts recently put out a new trailer for Rocket Arena introducing the game's setting and launch maps.

The arenas of Rocket Arena are all set in important locations across the world of Crater. The premise of Rocket Arena being the incredibly popular Rocket Championship Tour, which likely gets regions or countries to open up these great locations for tournament events. Locales include a futuristic cityscape, a winter-themed fantasy castle, an underwater sanctuary, and even an ancient crumbling temple.

In all, there are 10 different Rocket Arena map locations revealed in the World of Crater trailer. Apogee Acres, Frostwind Grove, The Golden Zephyr, Hypersonic Heights, Icefall Keep, Megadon Junction, Shimmering Depths, Star of Crater, Stompy's Refuge, and the Temples of Jaaqua are all locales where players will battle for rocket supremacy. Several of the locations, for example Apogee Acres and Hypersonic Heights, take place in thematically similar locales.

These will, assumedly, be all of the maps available when Rocket Arena launches on July 14. Developer Final Strike Games makes clear that this is just the start of the exploration of Crater, however. The Rocket Championship Tour will continue to travel around the world to new and exciting locales.

Final Strike Games also makes clear that any future map releases for Rocket Arena will be made available entirely for free. Rocket Arena will feature a seasonal structure of content updates, with a Blast Pass battle pass for extra cosmetic content. So expect new free gameplay-based content on the regular.

Expect more information about Rocket Arena in the days to come as Electronic Arts and Final Strike Games prepare for Rocket Arena's launch. It has all the opportunity to be a sleeper summer hit, but only if Electronic Arts is really able to capitalize on these final days and the time immediately after.

Rocket Arena launches on July 14 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
