Since the announcement of Rock Band Blitz back in April, Harmonix has certainly been keeping themselves busy. While no major announcements have come from the studio, rumors leaked out about a musical adventure game among a slew of other projects. The first 15 songs have finally been revealed, spanning across several genres, and a new trailer for Rock Band Blitz showcases the game's power-up abilities.

For those who already downloaded songs for the regular Rock Band series, your songs will also be accessible in Blitz despite the fact that you can't use instruments in the game. Conversely, tracks from Blitz will be available for instrument-based play in Rock Band 3, with Harmonix evidently continuing their goal of maximizing inter-game compatibility for fans.

Here's the list of the current songs announced for Rock Band Blitz:

  • All-American Rejects - Kids in the Street
  • Barenaked Ladies - One Week
  • Blink-182 - Always
  • Collective Soul - Shine
  • Elton John - I'm Still Standing
  • Fall Out Boy - A Little Less Sixteen Candles...
  • Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks
  • Great White - Once Bitten Twice Shy
  • Iron Maiden - Wicker Man
  • Living Coulour - Cult of Personality
  • P!nk - Raise Your Glass
  • Quiet Riot - Metal Health
  • Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl
  • Shinedown - Diamond Eyes
  • Tears for Fears - Shout

Rock Band Blitz ditches the realism of plastic instruments and semi-realistic play for a more arcade experience, with players able to quickly switch between instruments and get some crazy power-ups (see video above). The gameplay will appeal to a more relaxed, yet zanier, atmosphere - especially in comparison to having four people over to form a band and play through a career.

Rock Band Blitz Song List

Harmonix has stated that Blitz will have 25 songs in total, meaning just 10 songs have been left out of the revealed line-up so far. If previous Rock Band titles are any indication, one of them will be an infamous 'boss-level' song like 'Green Grass And High Tides.' And let's face it, the addition of an acoustic song (One Week by Barenaked Ladies) is a long overdue inclusion.

What do you think about Harmonix's upcoming arcade title? Do the released tracks sound good to you?

Rock Band Blitz is expected to be released later this summer for PSN and XBLA.
