Rock Band 3 Artists

During the Comic Con 2010 hubbub, Harmonix Games made some special announcements on their Twitter account, namely, five more bands that will have songs featured in Rock Band 3.

Harmonix started off by offering-up trivia questions, leading followers to speculate on the soon-to-be-featured-artists, before the developer broadcast the answers: Marilyn Manson, Tears for Fears, Foreigner, The B-52s, and Def Leppard.

Some of the hints posted by Harmonix were actually pretty interesting.

In case you missed it, we’ll give you another chance to play:

Hint: “They formed in NYC and their name was inspired by the fact that half of the original members were English and the other half were American.”

Answer: Foreigner

Hint: “…has sold over 11 million albums in the US, 68 million albums worldwide, three of which are multi-platinum.”

Answer: Marilyn Manson

Hint: “Disturbed has covered their work.”

Answer: Tears for Fears

Hint: “…got its start in Athens, GA, and their first album sold more than 500,000 copies. John Lennon was also quoted that they had an influence on his career later.”

Answer: The B-52s

Hint: “Has a great VH-1 Behind the Music.”

Answer: Def Leppard

While not all of the hints were as interesting as others, some are still very interesting.

Particularly that bit about John Lennon drawing inspiration from The B-52s – that explains a lot about his post-Beatles career.

As for how the announcements play into the Rock Band 3 offerings, it’s definitely a solid variety of music – and will undoubtedly please fans from a variety of music genres. Personally, I’m especially excited about Foreigner and The B-52s (I’ve got my fingers crossed for “Rock Lobster”).

Following the recent Rock Band 3 trailer as well as pre-order bonuses, Harmonix is definitely revving up the pre-launch announcements. I’m sure we’ll hear more information regarding the artists you’ll get to mimic in Rock Band 3 as we get closer to the game’s release this holiday season.

Rock Band 3 shreds some serious tunes on October 26, 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and DS.
