Roblox has been having increasing outages in recent weeks and months, and the most recent one is so big that the #RobloxDown hashtag is trending on Twitter as players around the world are desperate to get back online.

The popular game creation software and MMO network, Roblox is a favorite among players of all ages, where creativity is promoted to help players design and build almost anything. Examples of popular Roblox games are FPS games like Paintball, tycoon series', and murder mystery games perfect for friend groups or solo adventures.

Roblox has 43.2 million daily active users worldwide, yielding impressive growth for the site compared to 19.1 million daily active users at the end of 2019. The immense and often memetic fanbase is currently unable to access any of the Roblox servers, with the "503 Service Unavailable" message greeting players. This comes just hours after the official Roblox Twitter account published an article explaining a severe three-day outage that took place in October 2021. Gamers were quick to pounce in the comments, tweeting meme responses to try and lighten the mood after being cut off from their online play mid-game. Frequent updates from Roblox social media has since displayed messages telling of "Wide Spread Site Outage."

A lot of Roblox's appeal has stemmed from a more unlimited creative system, with a variable system for both simple and complex projects. From simple beginnings, Roblox has gained a large following among young players and tech-savvy teens. The addition of trending shows, social media icons, and other popular content results in surges of games being made by players, such as a multitude of Squid Game obstacle courses known as "obbys" being developed mid 2021 to cash in on the popularity of the Netflix show.

Attention and interaction for Roblox has been exponentially growing for a long while, but the frequent "down" periods and continual updates have previously caused severe backlash for the popular gaming hub. The #RobloxDown has naturally been used before for severe outages, but now it has reached Twitter's Trending page after less than an hour of downtime compared to the "long weekend" in October. It remains to be seen whether or not the official development team can keep up with the influx of new players in the future.

As usual, gamers can do little more than wait for the issues to be rectified.

Roblox is available now on Mobile, PC, and Xbox One.
