New content keeps coming out for Risk of Rain 2 but there are still mysteries some players haven't quite solved. The Death Do Us Part challenge is particularly difficult. Finding where the challenge begins can be difficult enough, let alone knowing how to go about completing it. The challenge is worth completing to get Runald's Band and Kjaro's Band as a reward and unlock the items in the game.

Runald's Band offers an 8% chance to strike enemies with ice runes, which reduces their movement by 80% and deals 250% damage; on the other hand, Kjaro's Band offers an 8% chance to hit an enemy with a runic flame tornado that deals 500% damage. Both bands will always activate together if players have both and also stack in damage. These are worth unlocking by completing the challenge so players will have access to them in future runs.

5 Explore The Abandoned Aquaduct

Risk Of Rain 2 Abandoned Aquaduct

Unless players are in the Abandoned Aquaduct environment there is no way to even consider starting this mission. Players cannot choose the environments they are placed in during a given loop with different environments placed into different sets.

After completing the first set, which could be either Distant Roots or Titanic Plains, players have a 50/50 chance of getting the Abandoned Aquaducts over the Wetland Aspect. Those that want to take on this quest as quickly as possible should stop their run here if they get the Wetland Aspect.

Those with a bit more patience can complete the entire loop and hope for the Abandoned Aquaduct to come up the second time around. As long as players can take on the ever-growing waves of enemies this is a perfectly reasonable option.

4 Bazaar Between Time

Risk of Rain 2 Baazar of Dreams

To absolutely guarantee that players encounter the Abandoned Aquaduct, they can visit the Bazaar Between Time. To access toe Bazaar Between Time, players will need to enter a Blue Portal. Blue Portals have a 37.5% chance of spawning on the map naturally but can also be created by spending a lunar coin at a Newt Altar.

Players can talk to the Lunar Seer and arrange to guarantee the next environment seen for a cost of three lunar coins. Just be sure to exit through the Blue Portal for this to take effect. If players accidentally travel through the null portal and travel to the Void Fields, their purchase will be nullified and they will need to return to the Bazaar Between Time to try again.

3 Locate The Ancient Gate

Risk of Rain 2 Ancient Gate

There's little reason to try to start the mission without having an idea of where to find the gate that needs to be open. With some of the random generation involved in the game's map, this can take a bit of time but there is an easy trick to find it.

The Ancient Gate is next to the left-most spawn point on the map. This can also be next to the only potential teleporter on that side of the map. As soon as players have spotted the entrance, it's good to make a mental note of where it is to return to after. The gate will be closed when it is originally found and needs to be opened before players can proceed on the mission.

2 Find The Hidden Pressure Plates

Risk of Rain 2 Pressure Plates

Each time the Abandoned Aquaduct spawns, two pressure plates are randomly generated on the map. These pressure plates are brown circular objects that have obvious button-like structures that need to be pressed down to activate. Both buttons must be activated at once to open the Ancient Gate.

These pressure plates being spawned at random can make them difficult to find. However, players have discovered some patterns related to how they show up. They often appear next to clusters of objects like rocks for players that are looking.

In multiplayer, this is as simple as having one player stand on each switch. In single-player, this becomes a greater challenge but is not impossible to complete. Any weighted item can be used to hold down the pressure plates including:

For single-player, the Engineer's Turret is the most convenient and stable solution. Unlocking the Engineer doesn't take any fancy tricks either — simply take some time to get to level 30 and the Engineer is available to play. It might take a bit more time to grind levels but we recommend those trying to take on this challenge in single-player do just that to make things easier on themselves.

1 Defeat Runald And Kujaro

Runald and Kujaro Risk of Rain 2

Once the gate is open, it's time to fight the bosses after defeating the other enemies on the map. Players should make sure they are fully healed before beginning the battle as these two unique Elder Lemurians are too strong to take on with other distractions and must be defeated in order to access the chests behind them that contain the two bands players are looking for.

These two enemies fight with fire and ice respectively — opposite's attract right? This makes it a challenge as players may be particularly built to deal with one type of damage in solo play but not be ready to take on the other. The area is a tightly enclosed space making it harder to dodge attacks. Players completing this challenge in multiplayer co-op will have an easier time taking away each boss's focus.

As the two are close together, abilities and weapons that cause the latter to bounce off nearby enemies will be extra effective in this fight. Players using the Huntress in multiplayer will benefit from using Laser Glaive to help deal damage quickly. For other classes attacking with the Ukelele will be beneficial. It has a 25% chance of dealing lightning damage to nearby enemies like these two married foes.
