Following the reveal of Risk of Rain 2 at Gearbox's PAX East 2019 panel, there's no doubt that plenty of fans of the series have been enjoying the roguelike sequel's third-person shooter action since it was released in early access. Now, the title's developer Hopoo Games has decided to provide players with a better idea of what's to come in the near future and beyond by offering up a look at the content roadmap.

Calling it the "Early Access Forecast", Hopoo Games has teased new Risk of Rain 2 characters, bosses, stages, items, equipment, and a whole lot more will be coming to the game over the course of the year and thereafter until it leaves early access in Spring 2020. According to the developer, players should expect new items and equipment in every single update, along with three new characters before next spring, as well as "Skills 2.0" and "Artifact 2.0" features.

Risk of Rain 2's update in June 2019 will bring about a new character, stage, and boss, while its update scheduled for Summer 2019 promises the same, as well as the first major addition of Skills 2.0. When it comes to Artifacts 2.0, it looks as if a fresh update for the title's gameplay modifiers won't be coming until Winter 2019. In between the summer and winter updates will be a Fall 2019 update from Hopoo that brings new "Hidden Realms". Finally, once Risk of Rain 2 leaves early access in Spring 2020, there will be a new survivor, final stage, final boss, new items, new equipment, and more.

It's safe to presume that a large portion of players are hoping that one of Risk of Rain 2's new characters could be Bandit, especially since fans dove into data files shortly after the game went live in early access and found assets related to the popular character. However, Duncan Drummond, co-founder of Hopoo Games, warned players via Twitter that any data mined content is “not at all indicative of future content”, so there's always a chance Bandit doesn't make the cut.

All things considered, players will have to remain patient and see exactly what Hopoo has in store for Risk of Rain 2's early access content as the game marches on toward officially hitting its 1.0 version in spring of next year. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too much longer for the first batch of content that's set to drop in a little more than a month from now.

Risk of Rain 2 is available now on PC through Steam Early Access.
