In keeping with its goal of bringing Risk of Rain 2's version 1.0 to consoles since mid-September, Hopoo Games has succeeded, officially leaving early access across all platforms. With continued support for the game in mind, the most recent console version update for Risk of Rain 2 brings this version up to speed content-wise with its PC counterpart.

What this means for owners of the console version is the inclusion of Risk of Rain 2's final boss, Mithrix, a final stage, and the Captain character awarded for beating it. Additionally, console players can also expect new monsters, character skins, items, challenges, lore entries, and a few bug-fixes to round out one of the game's biggest content patches over the course of its development beginning in 2019.

Thanks to the transparency of its developers, fans of the game have been briefed on the future of Risk of Rain 2 post-early access. During the game's development cycle, several features had to have been cut in order to release on time and adhere to the studio's early access road map goals, however as a thank you to the fans, Risk of Rain 2 is slated to receive one more large content update at an unspecified time that will include these initially planned ideas and features. From there, support-type patches in the form of bug fixes and quality of life adjustments will continue to be released for Risk of Rain 2, with the team's focus shifting to sizable new expansions for Risk of Rain 2 and possibly new projects.
