It's been an amazing 2020 for Riot Games so far, following League of Legends' 10th anniversary last year. While the company continues to support League, Riot has also released the Legends of Runeterra card game and its unique FPS Valorant in the past few months. With so many recent accomplishments, everyone working there could use some rest, and it seems they will be getting one very soon.

Right now, there's no shortage of things to do in each of Riot Games' titles. Teamfight Tactics is winding down the celebration of its first anniversary as a new patch is set to shake up the meta once more. Valorant's second act has just begun with the introduction of a new agent named Killjoy. Finally, League and LoR are in the middle of the Ionian Spirit Blossom Festival, with several more event skins and the latest champion Yone arriving tomorrow. But after the latest round of updates, Riot is taking a brief rest from working on its games.

In an official post earlier today, the entire Riot studio will go on a week-long break starting August 10th. The intended goal is to "disconnect, recharge, and reboot" for every employee working at Riot Games. Because of the less-than-peak efficiency next week, some future releases will need to be adjusted or rescheduled to avoid overloading work at a later date.

Normally, maintaining game balance for multiple titles would be hard enough in the first place. But current world events, the COVID-19 pandemic, and working from home means that Rioters have found it much harder to balance their work and personal lives recently. As a result, next week's break is necessary for the health of many different teams at Riot to ensure steady, new releases for the rest of 2020.

This announcement comes at a time when the company is still dealing with the effects of several lawsuits within Riot Games. One week may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but the commitment to each and every worker is clear. Following a recent sponsorship cancellation in the LEC after internal backlash, Riot Games continues to show its intent to be the best company to work for and play with.

In the end, this one week off at Riot doesn't seem likely to delay any big plans for the future like League of Legends' confirmed World Championship since everything is being pushed out before August 10th. For now, players of League, TFT, LoR, and Valorant can keep on enjoying the latest events while specific details on how the break will effect each title should come out in the next few days.
