Despite being in the middle of a break between seasons, Rick and Morty always has plenty of extra content for their fans' enjoyment, as proven by the latest spinoff to come out of the show, now made available by Adult Swim, The Vindicators 2.

The miniseries’ title is taken straight out of the fourth episode of Rick and Morty's third season, “Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender," where Rick begrudgingly accepts to reunite with the superhero group due to Morty's insistence, although throughout the entire adventure it’s made sufficiently clear he doesn’t hold Supernova, Vance Maximus, or any of the other Vindicators in very high regard. During that episode, it’s also revealed that this was the third time The Vindicators had assembled, even fully ignoring Rick Sanchez one time, which is exactly what this brief spinoff will focus on.

The Vindicators 2 was uploaded to Adult Swim's YouTube channel, with all 10 episodes being released at the same time. The first episode is aptly named “Rick Can Handle It” in reference to the looming threat of Doomnomitron on planet Earth, thus leaving no room for doubt that this team-up is no fan of Rick. Now, The Vindicators' episodes are roughly 2 to 3 minutes long, so it really doesn’t take a lot of time to go through the entire plot, but in it, fans will find out just what happened to Lady Katana, Diablo Verde and Calypso.

The Vindicators 2 sees many veterans from the show provide voice acting abilities, such as Tom Kenny, Maurice LaMarche and creator Justin Roiland playing Million Ants, Crocubot, and Noob-Noob. Furthermore, Gillian Jacobs and Christian Slater reprise their roles as Supernova and Vance Maximus. The online miniseries joins an assortment of content that makes up the Rick and Morty Universe, including several shorts and anime takes on the two main characters that also premiered on YouTube.

Series co-creator Roiland was quite busy this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con giving further details on his upcoming project starring Hugh Jackman, Koala Man. However, that’s not the only recent Rick and Morty news given the fact that their Adidas partnership continues to solidify the duo’s commercial appeal. It’s not exactly clear when Rick and Morty will return for season six, though for a while Roiland and Dan Harmond have stated that big advancements have already been made on seasons 6 and 7, thus hinting at a potential late 2022 release.

Last but not least, MultiVersus also confirmed Rick and Morty are joining the platform fighter’s roster, alongside LeBron James of all people, so with the full anime spinoff also on the way, fans won’t be starved for content anytime soon.

Rick and Morty season 6 is expected to premiere in 2022.
